Like most, I'd have Richy on the left before Solanke, something in the former's favour. That said I haven't written off Solanke, pre season form doesn't concern me too much and with a changed team around him it could be a completely different season for him. To make a massive balls to the wall CF signing would suggest that one of them has to go, but I'm possibly focusing on their collective transfer fees (not their fault) rather than the season as a whole and how RDZ views the players themselves.

His overall performance and form concerns me! So many times players have made good crosses or cut backs, but Solanke is almost never there to even challenge for the ball! He's just not a very good goalscorer. "But he's good in the build up, and can hold the ball with his back to the goal"

fudge that! We need a striker that scores goals regularly!

We've clearly not seen a match fit Solanke under RDZ. I'm trying to hold back a little as I saw what Iraola did with Dom at B'mouth.

Unlock that Solanke and we'd be firing.

I would say another strength is his pressing but that's sort of used as a stick to beat strikers with when it suits as well.

Teams win leagues without having a 20 goal a season striker, we won nought during Kane and Son's shared time at the club. So there's a balance. Of course I wouldn't turn down an Osihmen (SP) style absolute main man striker but sharing the goals out of fine by me too, not arsed who scores them.

It's probably for the CF thread rather than transfer rumours I guess...
 
The whole market seems to be log jammed at the moment.

Even in the football league there doesn't seem to be much movement.

Checked last week and there was only 200 incomings in league 1, last season there was close to 700.

Could all speed up, but seems like a massive drop off at the moment

I think we are seeing a by-product of the poor financial management of clubs over the last 30 years.

The once great clubs in Europe are skint and the money in the UK is there but only for a few to be able to spend.

I'd agree that it is largely down to poor financial mismanagement but it is also down to an economic model that overpays at the top and starves the bottom of the pyramid (and by this I mean across Europe not just the English pyramid). It allows for the hoarding of resources (financial and physical) in an elite and creates ever greater disparity between the levels.

It mirrors wider societal economic issues but that is for another thread.

I don't disagree but even those at the top are seeing the impact of a broken football model.

I have been vocal on here for years about this period coming, the black hole of money which is the footballers wages was always coming home to roost at some point. Thats why when others were demanding to pay more on wages, I actually agreed with Levy view on the balance, I still do. For me the only way the game survives long term is if more money stays in the game, paying ridiculous sums to players and third parties with that money leaving the game for good is only going to hurt the game long term.

But then coming straight in playing in the Prem for a lower team wouldn't necessarily be best for his career. If he can enter into the Championship, score a bucketload of goals and help Hammers get promoted then his star is on the rise while he has a successful rather than a frustrating year under his belt..

Cue Gutterboys reply that one player in history went from a premier league season to Europe and came back to score some goals means that it’s a certainty to repeat itself again

I think they'll break their bank for Barcola, which would screw us for Gakpo, however that means I think we'd shove Savinho over the line...there HAS to be something about Osimhen and his entourage? Because pound for pound he is worth the money in terms of productivity, even given his injury record.
