What new things can we grow in the UK now? Farmers are harvesting weeks earlier now. And the UK can produce good wine! Not everything is bad with climate change 😂😭

What is concerning - or should be - is the speed of change. Humans are outputting just as much methane and CO2 as ever, all the developing nations are only going up ans they modernise. And if you just take your own observations it certainly feels like the rate of warming now is accelerated. Change is significant. If this rate of change persists, what will that mean for our grandchildren?

That's not true. UK's emissions have halved since the 1990s. Developing countries are curves that need flattening, which can be easily done through support with the roll-out of green tech. As most developing countries are tropical, they have enormous open goals for solar compared to the developed temperates.

China has so much solar and excess capacity, it has made solar power great value. Yet, in places like Kazakhstan zhit like this is going on. This was reported, but how may other similar things aren't?


The methane released has a higher carbon footprint than many nations yearly footprint. Whilst China is making steps forward in solar it is also using more coal than ever, building more roads and cars. India is burning through resources as its population booms. As are other developing nations that 50 years ago were based on manual agriculture.

But we're at tipping point. The fossil fuel market is collapsing. OPEC is breaking up. Petrol cars are being phased out. Renewables are now cheaper, not just better. The remaining shift should go quickly, not gradual.

There's also not going to be other big industrialisations taking place once China, India and Nigeria have finished. That (and their population growths) are being curbed naturally already

Global CO2 emission are still growing! Technically we aren't at tipping point then. I agree there are changes happening, and in the future we'll move to EVs but cars are just one element of global emissions and it could take 30-50 years to see us fully retire fossil fuels.

Atmospheric chemistry is so complex, we don't really know how long the effects of emissions last, if they are reservable etc So what will happen in 20 years time if the rate of warming continues? It seems like it is accelerating to me.

Once we've stopped fossil fuels, we can use basalt as fertiliser to pull the carbon back out of the atmosphere. But that will be a slow process. And if we hit climate tipping point in the meantime (maybe we have already), human extinction is then already irreversible.
