Cristian Romero

The top 20 transfers this summer with fees paid and only 5 fall outside the PL, all of them attackers. One is Saudi, so we can ignore that one.

So the reality is there are a number of very decent CBs are lesser clubs who are also not being sought after in the window by European clubs, even if they can afford them. Thats fairly telling

My point about Inter is they are clearly a very good club despite the snobbery, twice CL finalists in the last 4 seasons, yeh terrible ambitions there.

If the reason big clubs are not buying Romero is his ability then surely they would be in the market for other CBs who are better? They are not and thats likely more telling about their priorities and need.
I ter's interest in Romero is linked to Bisseck going to Bayern. If Bayern don't buy Bisseck Romero to Inter is much less likely to happen.

Bayern could just buy Romero instead but they don't appear interested in him.

In all honesty, I think its hard to know who is interested in who anymore, this is not a defence of Romero but the market is all over the shop, like nothing I have seen TBH. The lack of money around is clearly an issue, loads of legacy clubs patching up their squads over the last couple of season with freebies, Konate and Silva to Real this summer.

We have done what alot of clubs are not and thats start from the back and work forward, more to do with necessity, where as others are IMO playing up to fan expectations and reinforcing their attacking areas at clubs who have a history of tremendous attackers.

I think Bayern on the face look like they need a CB but even they have decided to reinforce attacking areas, although they did get that LB in also. Bisseck tipped to sign an extension now as Bayern were not willing to match 40m, which shows where the market is on CBs outside of the UK. Its not only just Romero that isn't getting moved in on.

Like I said, if clubs were well healed and were in the market for very good CBs others would have moved along time ago in the window, its clearly not just a slight on Romero and opinion on his ability, there are plenty of class CBs are lesser clubs who could be paid for who are not.

Inter is a step up at this moment in time, but I don't think it's the Club Romero had his heart on, he wanted Spain if reports are to believed.

This could be an unhappy move all round

We don't get a decent fee
He doesn't move to Spain
Inter gets a player that doesn't really want to be there.

I still wouldnt be shocked if a Spanish club step in once Inter agree a fee with us

I just think this puts things into a proper perspective… top counts are hardly falling over themselves to get a so called elite level defender. £40m seems so low for a defender of his stature … is it simply people over rate him? Messi called him the world’s best defender etc …

I’m just hoping Romero gets tapped up by some club in the desert and we get a lump for him over £60m

Take him out of the equation, if top clubs are truly in the market for a top defender and willing to part with top cash for one then I would have expected someone else who is equally if not more talented to be snapped up by now, by the same logic people keep using.

The fact no one else has moved in that position of note outside the UK probably tells that clubs either don't need them, have other priorities or don't have the money.

Lacroix has gone for more money than we will get for Romero
Maybe other clubs think he is a liability

Inter don't have a load of money, but because they actually want the player they are finding a way to get it done still with a loan.

If Romero was 'world class' then the real big clubs whether they are flush with money or not would be doing the same looking to get it done at the very least with a loan and obligation.

If they aren't looking to do this he's simply not rated as highly as some on here do. There is a dearth of top class CBs and they would be all over someone anywhere near world class who is available and therefore not going to have to overpay for....

Clubs like Bayern will be aware of the reasons why we are looking to sell him. Not their style to sign bad eggs.

Would think some clubs in England would also be joining in to test the waters as well, even if we are not keen on selling.
