Sandro Tonali

It's just a marketing person's latest idea. Don't over think it, by Christmas we will have moved on to something else.
Ha if there's one thing I don't overthink it's Tottenham Welcome videos:D

Just think it's pointless, people are watching them to see and hear from the new player - you're not getting an increased amount of hits because some people are tuning in especially to see Michael Dawson introduce Andy Robertson for example. I know it's all the rage these fancy videos, just genuinely don't get it. But totally agree, no biggie....

Or any verbal insight from a 21 year old who’s dedicated his life to physical education and football 😂🤪

He does his talking on the pitch 🙌

Are we just discussing something that is quite the norm these days? Pointless faff that makes some people feel warm and fuzzy. Let it be. I am not fussed about any of it, detached from social media so I don’t relate to any of the rage these days.

More interested in watching them in action on the pitch and impressive highlights

I'm late to the comments, but almost £100m for Tonali feels like we're getting our pants pulled down. I'm sure we can find similar and better talent in the £50-70m range. Heck if we're paying that much, why not spend a little extra and go for Wharton?

Possibly but it’s what the manager wants. For once can we back the manager with what he wants and enjoy the story unfold?

I would have preferred Wharton at the same price only because I have not seen enough of Tonali. But the ex pros rave about him and RDZ has some sort of emotional homeland connection with him. That counts for a lot. A player that will die on the pitch for his manager. Something that we have lacked since players with Poch.

So yes a premium price for an underlying value.

We bought Fernandes instead of Wharton. Tonali is there to fulfil a different job, a job that Wharton can not do.

Is there someone out there that could do as good a job as Tonali and cost less, undoubtedly yes. however we would need to first identify this player and successfully sign him and then hope he acclimatises to the PL quickly.

We have paid the premium to ensure that the player slots into our system quickly.

Purely from our games against ‘castle and palace, Tonali stood out. I personally didn’t see Wharton as being special (or Fernandes for that matter). Wharton and Fernandes may well become world class, Tonali already is imo. And he’ll fit into RDZs way of playing. So chuffed if we sign him. Makes no odds to me if it’s 10m or 110m.

Our manager quite clearly rates Tonali higher than Wharton for what he wants in his central midfield is likely the reason?

Just because some on here have become fixated on Wharton doesn't mean he's seen as the best option in the actual footballing world - Emirates Marketing Project went big on a different CM, so have we, he wasn't considered good enough to be taken to the World Cup and it doesn't appear anyone else is on the cusp of being prepared to spend big on him...

Wharton is a very very good player though. That opinion isnt about Tonali or us or where he might or might not end up, but he is very good

Of course he's a good player, no one has ever said otherwise. But there's always been this question floated around here of why aren't we going for Wharton, it seems some can't comprehend that there are midfielders we rate higher. It's a very obvious answer as to why we are spending the money on Tonali and Fernandes rather than Wharton....

Im sure they can comprehend it, its just they personally rate Wharton highly.

This is the bit for me. All over TalkSPORT and online other fans are trying to discredit us for the signing. We have the money to spend within the rules so the simple question is - does Tonali improve our starting 11? Answer is yes

Tonali is a better player than Wharton currently, yes Wharton may become better as he is younger but there is no guarantees. I’m happy with Tonali and if we qualify for the Champions league we would have made some of that money back. We are trying to sign ready made players and i am all for it.

Wharton and Fernandes are quite similiar. They wouldn't be a natural pairing. Tonali gives more balance to a double pivot with Fenandes
