Djed Spence

Nobody on this thread is arguing that he has a bad attitude.

Let's do this slowly. You said nobody. I showed you somebody. Somebody and nobody are not the same. Which means, the thing you denied being true was true.

You can reply for your tiny little egos sake now but I hope you understand the difference between zero and one. Cheers rob

Glad to see others have noticed his attitude, the fans boys have not looked hard enough. However as they say its all about o pinions.
Yet he has repeatedly been played out of position and done anything the team has required without a solitary grumble. That includes telling the coach to play him in a new position, RW, for our most important game in 50 years five days after having his jaw broken. And he did admirably that day, even skinning their FB a few times to get to the byline and put in a cross.

The same for an England squad which the coach built around “squad harmony” at the expense of very talented players such as Trent, Palmer and Foden.

In the entirety of last season I cannot think of a single game where he did not turn up and performed poorly (in relation to the rest of the team). And that is with the revolving door of managers and tactical changes. Add the England games to that list too.

He’s our modern day Gary Stevens, and imo he and Porro are 1a and 1b for the RB spot.

I think his attitude is poor. If he was as good as he thinks he is he’d be captaining Real Madrid.

Isn't that what makes people succeed? An over-inflated opinion of how good they are? Don't most professional footballers (and humans) at some stage think they are going to the biggest and the best? part of the drive to make it is that self-belief.

Except to trust him over RKM at RW (playing out of position again) for our most important match of the past fifty years after he had apparently gone into RDZ’s office and told him that he could be counted on.

He’s one of our squad who has never gone missing, is always willing to do whatever the team needs and doesn’t spout off on social media when things don’t go his way.

This prevailing belief in Spence having a bad attitude is utter crap.

So playing ahead of RKM in one game isn't a major achievement. I would have had Spence in ahead of RKM every match post Xmas. We could see at that point that RKM wasn't interested in our project and didn't ever show the faith we had in him, including RDZ. That's assuming Spence wasn't required as a LB of course, which he clearly was at times.

As we rotate into the 26/27 season, what becomes interesting is whether RDZ sees Porro/Spence doubling up down the right as a viable option. One assumes Kudus is the starting right attacker and on the left Udogie and Robbo will share duties. Doesn't mean we shouldn't see the Spence/Kudus and Porro/Spence combos as well as the assumed Porro/Kudus combo. However, if Kudus is unavailable and Spence is overlooked for another player (e.g. Tel) plus Porro playing 80%+ duties as a RB then we might see a restless Spence.

I am excited to see what RDZ makes of Spence. If he brings out the best in him then, as fans, we should be genuinely excited. I think what we need is a 90 mins relevant player. A player that finds that consistency to go with the talents. I can also see Spence playing the RB role like Doherty did for Wolves and a little for us. I loved those runs Matt made from the deep RB position directly into the penalty spot area. The difference is Spence has genuine pace and would be tough to track.

The disrespecting of Frank was obviously wrong and not a good look. But I don't see any real evidence of bad attitude, he has a more casual demeanor in general which I'm guessing is why some perceive him to have an attitude problem? I don't see a lack of effort on the pitch....
