According to Romano, we are close to agreeing personal terms with the player but so are United and the player has his heart set on United. United are also in talks with West Ham but we haven’t started yet. They want £80m and are not fussed who they sell to. First team that hits the asking price is who they will sell to.

Via the agent we will know the ballpark that West Ham want.

Since this was first rumoured I’ve thought he’d chose United. It feels like we’re easy clicks at the moment since the board announced we’re going hard in the market (oo-err)

Radcliffe is in a Levy headspace where he wants to win negotiations. The days of United outbidding everyone on transfer fees and wages are done.

A lot of money for a championship player, would rather we spend £25m on Hayden Hackney.
Have only seen Fernandes a few times and not been overly impressed, he also has 2 relegations to his name already.
Must have something about him for Carrick to want him and De Zerbi for that matter.

He’s a very tidy player, but in all honesty, spend that money on Wharton
Wharton has been impressive ever since he joined Palace. I saw him once play for Blackburn at Blackpool. He was outstanding that game. A different level to the rest.
Not watched too much of Fernandes, just highlights. If they are similarly priced id prefer Wharton.

I agree about Wharton but Fernandes is the more talented player hence why he is valued higher even at a relegated club and Man U amongst others want him and not Wharton.

I doubt we will get Fernandes, and Wharton would be a fine alternative if we can persuade him and likely 10-15m pounds cheaper too....

Wharton will be more expensive.

i suppose tonali, hernandez are going to be double pivot midfielders who can tackle and progress the ball through midfield
What role are we trying to fill? To my mind Fernandez, Wharton and Scott aren't the same shaped peg for whatever hole we are trying to fill.
