Surely if you tell me what charity you're going to donate to and I donate more that will make me a better person than you? That doesn’t make sense Carl
I’m with Tommy here, vdv said something racist, no excuses, he’s a clam.
Surely if you tell me what charity you're going to donate to and I donate more that will make me a better person than you?
Altruistic too, I see. All the best people highlight their positive behaviour.... Being a bellend isn't counter-balanced by the good you've done. Not sure how much wider my horizons could be living in Japan, self-teaching myself to Japanese fluency. Oh and I moved here in part because after experience the earthquake and tsunami in 2011, I came back to volunteer for a couple of weeks and helped raise $25,000 for a school to educate kids who lost their parents that day.
But I’m the ill-informed one who lacks humanity because of a few posts on a football message board. Keep it up mate.

Thats because what actually need that window was a striker and VDV was a last minute desperation cover plaster stuck over the gaping hole and it worked because most fans don't even remember now how we once again didn't actually address the very obvious gap in the squad. If we had signed a striker and VDV then we would have really been cooking with gas.I honestly always thought he was overrated. Fun to watch, some superb moments, but ultimately didn't move the needle a whole bunch for us. He played less than 77 games for us.
40 goals + assists in 63 league games for us. That’s mighty impressive. Came up big in the champions league too. Some serious revisionism going on here, VDV was fantastic for us. Quality buy.
You funny.I honestly always thought he was overrated.
And for £8million, even back then it was a bargain for his quality....Some serious revisionism going on here, VDV was fantastic for us. Quality buy.
He was an incredible talent......VDV was great for us and certainly moved the needle in terms of mentality - he took games by the stuff of the neck and scored important/winning goals
He was awesome but he was also just papering over a rather massive crack.40 goals + assists in 63 league games for us. That’s mighty impressive. Came up big in the champions league too.
Massive pillock though, putting it mildly.

Those stats certainly do put my memories into perspective...slightly skewed maybe? I suppose I just sigh when I see him in the same list as Hoddle, Gascoigne, Modric, Bale, Kane, Son...I'd put him in the Berba category, and even then I'd take Berba every time...but I have to say, the stats do paint a good picture, and perhaps my memory is rusty.
He was one of them players who slowed the game to his pace but added start quality. He was so good mate, I loved him. One of the true World Class players we had. Shame he has a Vauxhall conference brain ............... *ducks for cover
It's odd how despite all the evidence (and some fun times watching him) I feel the way I do.
I think perhaps it is because for me, the player who really made it all happen then was Luka, who allowed VdV to be himself.
Again, I am willing to accept my memory might be 'off' or even somehow subconsciously biased for whatever reason (genuinely not thinking of his trangressions, albeit they are poor) ?
