I think you\re talking about 2 players that woud have been natural centre mids in prior eras of the game. Nowadays the athletes play in the middle of the park and you might get a deep lying playmaker if you're lucky. The playmakers get farmed out in the wider spaces.

I just watched a further analysis he did and came here to post it. The frustrating thing re Savio is it seems very few people have seen him play outside of his time at City. It's almost a night and day difference in his play style and approach being played mainly on the left and Girona and having the freedom to be their attacking catalyst and his time at City where he was very much just a cog in the city much more restricted and played on his weaker right hand side which changes his game style dramatically.

I agree, and it has had me questioning whether the game currently has room for this sort of player (sadly)? Looking at the England squad for WC, it appears not really, and TBH, I think it is such a shame!
