Transfer thread

It's ironic that we were close to signing this guy a couple of years ago, but supposedly decided not to because of him being injury prone. Since then we've gotten Odobert and Kudus who have both been out with long term injuries, whilst Nusa hasn't been injured at all. He's class. He's got that speed, low center of gravity and will always be able to just flick one past you, which means teams will often double up on him, creating a lot of room for wing backs to overlap or midfielders to arrive in support. More often than not he will cut in and shoot or cross - always creating mayhem.

I'd love to see us sign him, but it doesn't seem like we're interested any more, unfortunately. Some highlights from last night's game against Sweden.

Big chance he'll be a standout performer in the WC and end up at one of the big/rich boys, unfortunately. Fantastic talent with a very high ceiling.

I honestly didn't know if him before the first link a couple of years ago but I've watched bits and bobs of him ever since and he does feel like he's going to be one of those ones we regret in the long term. When I watch him, he just seems to have it. He's everything I like in a wide player, great balance, graceful, willingly takes his man on constantly. He's only lacking in goals but I think that can come but his presence alone is a difference maker. I wish we had signed him ahead of Tel and Odobert and I do like the latter but Nusa I feel has a higher ceiling.

Re Nusa, that's not what happened

- He wanted first team football, we had Son in the position, so he wasn't likely to get that, he chose to go somewhere he could get it.
- He failed his medical (pretty serious) at Brentford, talk at the time was lose cartilage in the knee and a persistent back issue that needed managing.

Brentford reconsidered the deal the January window after and still didn't do it.

He may have gotten over the injury, but I don't think we can call out the club for not signing him at that time.

The issue for both is based on the age they were when they joined the club.
All joined us aged 18 which means they will count as club-trained after their third season. The rules allow for the player to turn 21 during the final season of eligibility.

That’s why there is such a premium on 18yo players but not 19yo ones.

Would a cheeky bid for Raphinha be a bad idea? 29 years old, they have just got in Gordon and he is still playing at a high level. I think Barca may be persuaded.

This guy always seems to find good players, sounds like the type of profile that would be good as a back up. His feed is well worth a read.

He's probably plucked him out from just looking at his La Liga stats last season....when I've watched videos of him he's looked clunky as fudge...nothing standing out as a quality from what I've seen.

(Biggest caveat ever though; I probably thought exactly this about Kane at some point 🤣)

hopeful that dezerbi will pull in some cheap and good players from italy - players from there seems cheap and technical, good source of ballers and creative players.

french league too though rdz didn't spend a lot of time there
