Cristian Romero

With captains, I'm way more into the part of the role that is on the field. The bit we can see.

For me, Cuti is way more of an effective on-pitch captain than Sonny was. He also plays in one of the best positions to be a captain. Take the EL final last May. Danso and Sonny came off the bench. Danso looked like the captain to me. He was fantastic with the comms, the organising and the motivational parts of the role. He didn't give himself any time to assimilate to the environment. He just stepped on that pitch and got down to business. I remember calling him out favourably as I was watching the game. Sonny unfortunately didn't do that but it was bliss to see him lift that trophy at the end after the loyalty and love he showed our club. His captaincy traits were more off pitch to me.

Personally, I would always be looking for leaders from centre half or centre mid. Probably why VDV will be wearing the armband today. That central leadership group of VDV, Danso, Palhinha and Bentancur will be really important to the outcome.

I’m sure the noise will have been picked up by him and his agent. Can’t imagine any potentially interested clubs would think it’s a good look.
Curious. It's not exactly the move of a man who's about to leave the club.
And I don't think the optics of an injured captain not attending a game is a make-or-break factor in signing someone.

Or maybe he was just visiting Argentina and always planned to be back in time for today. Either way it doesn’t matter
If it was always planned then his agent would have mentioned when Gold spoke to him the other day.
The right thing has resulted in the end so we can put it to bed, but it's a shame it had to create the amount of noise it did in the lead up to our biggest game for quite some time....

Yes exactly, bad judgement call initially (and to try and explain it away via his agent) but they have come to their senses.

He's captain - he's expected to have good judgement.

Come to their senses? Or been shamed and pressured into doing what he should have done in the first place?
He should have stayed in Argentina - don't want this clam at Tottenham
