Luka Vuskovic

You do realise he might only be as good as he is because he's been playing every week at Hamburg? Being at this Spurs environment and not playing every week, he wouldn't have had the same season. Not to mention that the Bundesliga isn't the PL, he could very easily get exposed and found out in this league being asked very different questions.

It's not as black and white as you want to make out, he's a teenager that has had a successful loan which is only good news for us.....
Indeed. Dragusin would probably look just as good if playing every week out in Germany.

The standard of German league like PL has been in decline for a couple of seasons. I was taken to task when I've wrote this in the past but apart from Bayern the teams we have played looked very ordinary.
I'd like to think that the standard has declined overall, football has become more machine-like. But I don't think the EPL has declined more than the other major leagues as a whole. Keep in mind that all 6 English teams qualified for the playoffs in the CL, with all 6 in the top 12.

One of the teams that finished top is even a relegation candidate, I won't name names though.

Its a poor watch, if its declined to the same rate as the others is up for debate.

But I think we are allowed to be excited for a player who is doing what he is doing to an exceptional level in both years he has played based on his age.

I cab live with it If he isnt the second coming, but he is clearly a supreme talent via all metrics so far. No level of fun police should tell people they shouldn't be excited

Well, at no point have I said that we aren't allowed to be excited for anyone, I was just commenting on that I think the decline, perceived or not, isn't limited to just the Premiership and Bundesliga.

That wasn't aimed at you, im talking generally

Im super excited about him as a player but old enough and mature enough to accept he might not be what I think/hope he is.

Thats all

I agree most leagues are in decline, teams are coached to play systems not football.

No problem, and I freely admit that I haven't followed Vuskovic much. Still, I think most players can fit specific systems, and fail in others. Unless they are adaptable, which for me is as much of a sign of a top player than a specific trait. Looking forward to seeing what he can do when he returns, but then again I do that with all loan players. Moore in particular.

Of course but at 18 and 19 to be top of class in his side and his league, the lad has maturity beyond his years, footballing level aside the pressure he is playing under is huge.

He's definitely done amazingly well to get 90% of the way there at such a tender age. Gonna be intriguing whether he has the last 10% in him to make him a world class centre half. I'm sure we all hope so.

I think we all loved Toby at one point. There was a time in his career when he was behind Godin and Miranda at AM. He went out on loan at Saints and ended up with us after. We'd all take a Toby but I can't imagine what Spurs would be like with a Godin. I'm hoping Vuskovic is that.

I would take Godin, Toby, Vusko anyone

And PL teams in each European final.

I don’t think the quality (different from style which I agree has diminished this season) has declined, but instead has moved towards the middle. There is less difference now between 3rd and 18th (not us!!!) than in previous years with a big bunching of teams from 6th thru 14th.

I posted a vid in another thread saying how the lower-mid PL team would be challenging for a European spot in all the other major leagues.

cor, you're pushing it mate
Dragusin was good in Italy, hence why he bought him. Having seen him a good few times before he signed, I can say confidently he's a good defender and still young enough to improve - he will show somewhere else, probably back in Italy that he is a good player. He has been extremely unlucky here with being backup never having a decent run in the team, injuries, and playing a lot of games in a system not suited to him.

I watch a fair bit of the German league and it's nowhere near the intensity or even quality (which we all agree isn't that good) of the PL. Vuskovic is a big talent for sure, but has a lot of developing to yet. Will be interesting to see if the club want him here next season, if they do will indicate he will be getting playing time...

How does he compare to de Ligt when he was 19 and one of the most sought after young players in football? Every player is different but it’s fair to say de Ligt hasn’t really lived up to the hype. Not at all saying Vuskovic will follow the same trajectory but who knows.
