OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur v woolwich *** 22.2.26

I already posted.

VDV left back in a 4 and push Saka back.

Start with 2 up front and mix up short and long balls.

Play more attacking players from the start and leave one of the midefielders on the bench so that we can add fresh legs in there 2nd half (as opposed to getting overrun).

I can go on.
What we really lack is movement in front of the ball! There is no one trying to run in behind and break the lines. Not once did I see it this game, and it's been a constant the whole season. In the rare occasions it happens, it's ONE player, which makes it ridiculously easy for the defence.

However painful it is for us Spurs fans Arsenal have built a much better squad than us since Arteta took over as manager. Our recruitment has been so bad. I know we have loads out injured but the team that started today are mostly average at best. I feel sorry for Archie Gray being played all over the shop but the rest of them were looking way out of their depth. I know we were up against a much better side today and the result was no surprise, I`ve been saying all week I thought they would put at least 3 past us. But hey ho we move on, but I would give a couple of our academy players a try they surely couldn`t be any less effective than Simons. He really is so weak I think the Prem is way too strong and quick for him, but the same could be said about half of our players who were on the pitch today.
Until we up the wage structure we will have to put up with signing average players for good money
We pay more than 3/4s of the league, it's not the reason we are in 16th.

Other than the 5 usual suspects, how many of the clubs above us in the table have a better wage structure?

What you should have said is....
Until we up the wage structure the club management we will have to put up with signing average players for good money

I'm not saying 3 was the correct option, but taking VdV out of there and leaving an at best average CB and a DCM as out two CBs doesn't fill me with any confidence.
Gyokores is a donkey - Dragusin cooed fine with him first half. I’d rather have VDV looking after Saka. This is what I mean about being creative.

If you think Tudor can replicate Franks tactics and improve things just by “trying harder” then we’re heading for the Championship.

I agree. But he only picked one player in front of Xavi.

He's got ZERO movement in front of him, and has no options to create anything! How many runs into the box did you see today? Not much you can do as a creative player when there's absolutely no one in front of you to play the ball to!!!
Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me, mate....

I posted this pre game. How do people not see this? Creative players need options.
And the thing is that making good attacking patterns and relationships is the most difficult thing in football, and what takes the longest to get right. Which makes it much more difficult for Tudor. If we only had defensive issues, that would be a much easier fix. But we're all over the place in every area of the pitch, so it's a mammoth task to get this team competitive!

Should've played these guys instead:

Kinsky
Porro - Romero - Danso - Udogie
Kudus - Bentancour - Bergvall - Maddison - Odobert
Kulusevski

Oh, wait, they're not available. 🤷‍♂️

No excuse for the inept performances today, of course, but I believe that with more of our best players available we could've taken the game to them. With a more balanced defensive unit I also don't think we would've made as many mistakes as we did at the back - errors that are costly when you play one of the best teams in the country.

For what it's worth, I think the 3-1 goal flattened us completely, especially after having had our equalizer cancelled. It was soft, but probably correct, but never in a million years had it been ruled out for a team in red.

Which was a big shame, for had it stood, we would've managed to come back from being a goal down twice. Yes, we were second best and lost deservedly, but up until that 3-1 goal I thought there was enough fight in us and enough sloppiness from them for us to actually manage to get something from the game. In short spells we showed that we were able to push them back and create half chances.

In the end, the difference in quality showed, unfortunately. We got what we deserved. A lot of our players had sub par games. I was especially disappointed in Xavi, who was poor. Gray fell of a cliff after being decent, Dragusin made too many errors, Spence was just too flakey, Sarr invisible and Solanke and Richarlison offered little when they came on. Kolo Muani was thw one bright spot, IMO. I also believe subbing Gallagher was a mistake, as he was one who actually worked hard.

We are in trouble, that's for sure. But it's still in our own hands, and this game was never going to be decisive.

The next few months will be nerve wrecking, and we absolutely have to start to gain points soon. Starting next weekend would be good. Hopefully we can also start to see players back, and not suffer any more injuries too.

VDV is a clam, I'm done with him, tv tackles, not much else

I like him - but this is a team that is 16th or whatever we are now, not taking instructions from a new manager, whilst playing dogbrick - what?! They’ve played brick all season, yet still think they should play according to their own rules? If so, we’re going down.

well he's admitted to ignoring Ange last season and just doing what he wants

shouldn't be a surprise

that third goal was beset with issues, and there is so much more blame elsewhere, but he's the wrong side of saka, and because of that, when he does get the tackle in he knocks the ball across goal, not away from it

and fudging hell, that reminds me, he's so fudging brick in the air, he's six and a half foot tall, he got beaten in the air by five foot Saka today, that is fudging disgraceful, he's a clam

You can go on as much as you want... doesn't necessarily guarantee what you are going on about makes sense... just saying ;)
