I do hope the naysayers realise that Dempsey scored 17 goals and had 6 assists last season, whilst playing the majority of games at left midfield, but also behind the striker and even as a striker.

I dont give a fudge. He is a **** & should be nowhere near our club. I cant believe a single Tottenham fan would welcome him back, some even as part of a double swoop with ****ball probably.

The only source ever saying a bid had been accepted was SSN which unfortunately is pretty much the worst source going, no better than the tabloid crap that needs something to fill up space/gather excitement. Every other reputeable source said fee couldnt be agreed/was too high for us.

The whole deal stunk from the beginning, everyone continually said the fee would be too much including our manager. Porto arent known for caving in either.

The whole thing about personal terms couldnt be agreed is ludicrous spin really, we can pay far more than any club in Portugal can. Portos annual revenue is only a bit more than half we get. Plus we would have sounded out personal terms from a long time back.

Well, it doesn't løok good. It seems like we once again are weaker at the end of a transfer window than we were at the start of it. We have sold two of our best and most important players and not managed to replace them with similarly good players. I like Dembele, but I don't think he is able to control the midfield for us on a regular basis liek Modric did. Different type of player anyway. Unless Moutinho joins in overtime, we are weaker in central midfield.

From what I have seen of him, Gylfi Sigurdsson is an inferior player to Rafa, so we are weaker in that position too. Dempsey can be useful as he can play in several positions, but he is not a player who is an automatic choice in a starting XI by any means.

On the wings we lack cover. Dempsey can play there of course, but is not a natural winger.

We look weak at center back with Kaboul out with a long term injury, atlhough I appreciate that is was hard to see that one coming.

And up front, I would also have liked another quality striker in. Adebayor and Defoe doesn't fill me with too much confidence. Dempsey and Dembele can also do a job there, but it is hardly ideal.

Nice to get a quality keeper in for the long-term, but it really wasn't the most important thing to sort out for us in this window.

I am quite happy with this transfer-window. We've got a goalkeeper of highest quality who is 25. We've got the captain of Ajax who already has shows us he is good enough. We've got Dembele who IMO will be as good as Luka. Gylfi has potensiale, let him grow in the system, let him get to know his new teammates. He will score crucial goals like Rafa. And we've got Clint Dempsey - a killer in the box who maybe could reach double-figures in goals. He had 17 last year for a midtable-team.

Cheer up, lads - look at Scum and Pool - they can be unhappy. We should all look forward to an exciting new season =D>

Jesus you don't half exaggerate things don't you.

I don't even rate Dempsey but even i can see why we did this deal and also that our squad is far more balanced (well minus the goalkeepers) then it's been for a long time. Dempsey can cover various positions and dembele can too. In fact Dempsey makes far more sense than moutinho. It's clear we have a plan and i'm happy.

agree with you Dubai. We need to look at glass as half full not half empty. I said all along that the chances of us signing a player for more than £20m were so slim as to be delusional.

we are THFC. Not moneybags City or Chelsea. We dont have CL football to offer or the money that CL would have brought us. We didnt want to sell Modric or VDV but they wanted to go. We have to cut our cloth to suit. Given the constraints we had, we have signed a good variety of players each with their own merits.

Lets give AVB a chance and get behind the lads - starting tomorrow. A big three points could really kickstart our season.
