Xavi Simons

I am putting it out there, Xavi wont make it in the PL. One of those continental players that does very well in Europe but will not be successful in the PL.

He was beyond terrible against West Ham, i've never seen a creative player with an inability to make such simple passes. Like 5 yard passes with zero zip on them.

His performance against West Ham was terrible. How he stayed on with Tel off was perfection only Thomas knows.
He's shown enough already to disprove that. In a proper set up, he'll be good. He'd thrive at Chelsea, Villa, you name it. We're a mess now, so every player looks poor.

He thrives in one touch football. Which means passing and moving, playing in triangles. But we don’t play that way, everyone stands around like statues, allowing themselves to be marked out of the game

There's definitely a player there and he looks like he's getting more accustomed to the PL.
But on Saturday he absoultely bottled out of two tackles in the second half, the first you could clearly see him easing off chasing down the West Ham player (think it was Bowen). That was worrying (and infuriating).

Yeah, I was sat in upper stand on Saturday and Simons had several opportunities to play a defence splitting pass, which Maddison could’ve done with his eyes closed, but he kept misplacing them and giving the ball back to Wet Spam.

Clearly he’s got talent and hopefully by the end of this season we’ll forget about failing to sign Gibbs-White and Eze…

He definitely appeared to go into his shell in the second half but I suppose it’s preferable that he shirks challenges than gets himself red carded again. Hopefully it’s simply that he was nursing a knock after Wet Spam kept on clattering him.

Simons has got stuck in and been physical in plenty of games, plenty of times. It says it all about how we play if we are concerning ourselves with how many tackles our creative player is making in a game....

Well someone has got to fill the void left by Kulusevski who ran himself into the ground carrying the team with his all action displays for much of last season…

13 of 24 probably isn't too bad for forward passes. Though, on the pictures alone (so I don't know full context) at least 1 and possibly as many as 3 or 4 of those giveaways look like ones that could put the team in potential real danger
