That is what I don’t get
IMO he is a guy who deals with the hand he gets and adapts
Not seen any of that in the league
That worries me
Because that was the reason I wanted him here

Has it always been like this with a new manager? Every conversation reverting to a comparison with the previous guy in charge? Or is it just a result of how poor our attacking play has been under Frank and the contrast is so stark between the two?

Frank needs time, but Frank also has to improve some things. And while I accept that it takes time it can't just be "buy better players".

It has to be what is the style of play that is being coached
The reason why its comparison with Ange is because Ange got pelters for injuring players and playing what some saw as weak football
Were doing the same thing under a new guy (different style still weak) and still having injuries
It’s no change expect we attack less and still lose at home to actually relatively weak sides

Exactly

Therefore it seems more about in what style people will accept the team not performing in. People that were defending the last manager are now not defending the new man. I'm willing to give any manager a couple of seasons before I start making judgements regardless of style. Then you can look back at his whole tenure, the trends in performances, points etc and judge.

As long as they are judged fairly
I’m not accepting injuries and an excuse for a lack of progress because we know the last guy got bleed for the injuries and was missing so many players piece his tenure
But there are many other variables that can be relevant too
Is the club too big for a coach.
Is the expectation too big
Is the stadium too nice (daft I know)
Do we players who can’t distinguish colours hence why they won’t pass forwards in case

Who? There were very, very few defending the last manager.
 
Franks issie is, IMO, because of the lack or a real identity he has to rely on certain players who make the basic system function
They are Udogie for width and Romero for passing
That’s two defenders who actually have a big impact on how we attack
 
Frank is an intelligent man and some of the coaching staff that have followed him in are well respected in the game. I’m sure once we get players back and we have another transfer window or 2 that he will sort this all out.

You have to remember that these players couldn’t pass a ball 5 yards under Ange last season aswell. I’m sure the managers don’t send these professionals out to pass the ball to the opposition. The players have to take responsibility for what happens on the pitch, they may not pick how they set up but they are fully in charge of their decision making and movement.

You don't need elite players for a premier league team to atleast be able to control the ball from defence, midfield to attack.
We still had Porro, Danso, Spence, Bentacur, Sarr who have all played one whole season as a front footed attacking unit & the four elite players you mentioned on the pitch, + Xavi, RKM

Not all premier League teams have four elite players. Like I said we do need better players, but the players we currently have are still good enough and experienced enough to be able to string two or three passes together and create and attack or two.

The clear issue for me is how they are being asked to hit it long or cross every time, rather than use the ball more effectively.

Like I said only three players were new players in that team.

I agree it should be as simple as that sadly it seems that the noisy/impatient fans have already started their moans about him not being good enough. I love the game which i have played, worked and followed for many years but the general fan base in todays game is the cry WE NEED A CHANGE.

Said it before but we really have to get out of this the manager is not good enough syndrom and we need to find another one. It amazes me that after so short a time in the job that there are the usual he is not up to it and we should do this or that you would think we would have learnt after the last decade or so of changing managers that there is not any quick fix. :(
 
I wish we could find a Dembele. But there are few of the level of him about. What a player he was, press proof, forward thinking and gave others around him space.

You’re not wrong. The fella needs time. Regardless of how I feel about the style of play, my minimum expectation was top half this season to earn another one. That should be very achievable and remains the case for me.

However, you have to admit that last night was as bad a display offensively as we’ve seen for a long, long time?

I haven't seen anyone shouting for him to be sacked. There's nothing wrong with questioning the quality of the football being played and if he is getting the best out of the players. Would you be happy with watching the style of football on show so far long term?

As you say last night was shocking and we always seem to have bad games against Chelski. However we have seen so much change over the last few seasons in both managers and players and unless we accept that it will take time to sort out what problems we have then we will more then likely be looking at yet ANOTHER manager change. As for expectations i agree with you we should be aiming for at least a top half finish and i still believe we will/can do that.

I understand the frustrations from fans [ especially those who spend their money and time going] but history usually shows that changing managers every season or so does not guarentee sucsess. I may be seeing something that is not there but imo we are improving from the last couple of seasons [ i accept that is not easy to see at times though].
