Transfer thread

I do wonder if all the fan protests with clubs up and down the country is a symptom of social media frustration.

Teletext a precursor where it was checked too many times a day 😂

You’re not going to attain peace or satisfaction if relying on social media for stimulation.

Remember the days when news paper back pages were how football news reached fans? There was thirst for news then too. Now notifications, businesses selling addictive specialist content Per club, channels, followers, streams, posts just suck people into greater expectation. And reality will never keep up with the speculation.
You’ve triggered me with that! In the 80s I kept scrap books of newspaper cuttings of our seasons and especially the cup wins. At some point years later my mum persuaded me to get rid of them because they were attracting mites or something like that. I so regret that now.
(Similarly to how I gave up my large collection of Enid Blyton hardbacks to a Blue Peter charity Bring and Buy sale. Huge regrets).

What if they've already spoken to the player who has said he is waiting for chelsea?
If he really is ‘waiting for Chelsea’ then that most likely means they have offered him a bigger pay cheque than anyone else and more money to his agent (which is perhaps why they’re struggling to pay RBL’s transfer fee)

When i moved out my dad binned all my comics. Well over a thousand marvel comics. Some worth a few quid.

Parents eh.

They're struggling cause allegedly they can't spend more than they recoup or face further punishment from uefa.

How that works i have no idea. Uefa seem to change the rules as it suits them.

So they want to offload nkunku and possibly others.

Bring and Buy! Now there’s a blast from the past

If we offer him and his agent same terms as Chelsea are then I see no reason why he wouldn’t sign for us (otherwise he risks staying at RBL on much lower wages). Of course Chelsea might then happen to somehow find the transfer fee and the player chooses them anyway but, if we actually want him, then it’s reasonably likely lack of wage offer is holding us back.

It's Thursday, window close on Monday. We're still registering interests and preparing verbal bids. It's not looking too promising tbh. Hope we can at least get an El Khanouss in.

When has levy ever let us down in the market?

Relax levy’s got this.

I too am concerned at our apparent lack of progress, but are we though? All too often we have had clickbait reports all summer, only for our signings to come out of the blue and at the final stages. I'd suggest it's far likelier we have been fed the usual gonads which works because everyone posts it, reads it and discusses it whilst the club have been working in a different direction - All of a sudden something credible by Ornstein breaks and we all go 'Wow, that came out of nowhere' when in reality we had been discussing for some time, just not something the nonsense SM streams were privy too.

You have to look back after each window for the past ten years and think if I wasn't fed the 500 nonsense links on a daily basis would I have been any less knowledgable about what my club is looking to do in the market than if I just found out when the club actually signed players? Let's be honest we all know the answer and yet we've all been duped into wasting hours of our lives looking thirstily for this baseless speculative information day after day (myself included). It's gotten out of control....

I loved to do my scrapbook, couldn't wait for Monday when I could get my hands on Sunday papers with my scissors.

If we cant get the right players in now then wait and get our preferred option(s). We have had a habit of getting anyone in at times and having deadwood in a couple of years or we have got youth in that clearly isnt ready or will immediately improve us.

Hopefully we can get through to the Jan window in a decent position and convince others to sell or come to us.

Looking at our squad

Vic - Kinksy
Porro - Spence
Romero - Dragusin
VDV - Danso
Udogie - Davies
Palhina - Grey
Bentancur - Bergval
Sarr - Bissouma
Kudus - Johnson
Maddison - Kulu
Tel - Odobert
Solanke - Richie

Thats 24 players, i can see Bissouma being the only one out of those 24 players leaving, with Madders and Kulu out we can bring in a player but when they are back the squad is going to be big with a lot of players missing out on bench spots on match day. I can’t see us doing much more business if i am honest. Not a lot of homegrown / trained players in that list either.

24 players. Nice try at slipping in a 12-a-side team!

Well let's be honest, it's a decent set of players but nothing special. I doubt Frank and the recruitment team have been sitting there all summer thinking 'I don't know how we're going to improve that squad'. We get better players in and we sell those who aren't as good, and with the likes of Tel/Odobert we could loan them out for them to continue their development. But yes, doubtful there will be much movement with little time left now.

The disappointing thing for me is Frank has shown he is adaptable and good tactically, so it would be great if he could be given the best tools possible to succeed in. But we are still short on real quality where other teams have invested in. I know things look rosy all of two games in, but it only takes a few injuries and/or the CL campaign to get going and we would yet again see the drop off in quality and results. Sure it likely won't get as bad as it did with Ange, but Frank doesn't stand a chance competing with the big boys which we allegedly want to do if he isn't given better depth....
