Pedro Porro

So does Porro move into the captaincy group this season? With Sonny gone and Madds injured, just wondering whether Porro will be the other one of the 2 vice captains behind Romero as captain.

I can't remember seeing Palhinha ever wearing the armband but perhaps he becomes a vice instead.

Easy to make a case for him, great work ethic, clearly a starter, very positive and likeable guy and now one of the senior players in squad.

Did any of you guys notice that it was Pedro and not Romero who gave the speech in the huddle just before the match? I think Porro is slowly becoming an under the radar leader in the dressing room.

I think he very much is. And from what I can see from the outside a good one at that. Seems to lead by example and demand things from others.

As a side note I quite liked the delegation of the team talk to Porro. Many ways to be a captain, if you think a different player is the better one to give the motivational talk have them do it.

Absolutely. Being a leader is also about getting the best out of others.

Ball retention and progressive movement was a step up on last season on the right but as many have noticed we passed out there more in this game, without Son and Maddison dominating possession when they played.

I feel he will be a part of the new leadership team

Also already loving the partnership he is forging with Kudus, they look solid and dangerous on the right
There are a few contenders for the leadership group. Maddison, Kulu, Porro, Vicario, Palhinha, possibly Gray as an apprentice. Maybe even Davies for his experience.

The key being having multiple players who take responsibility and act as leaders regardless of who has the armband. Perhaps we're getting there.

The issue with Maddison was he always went left
Now we have an issue not going left
Frank will address that

Vicario gives the huddle pep talks as well, it seems. I think it's great to have several leaders in the team, but the key is for them to lead by example and not just a few words of encouragement (both are necessary IMO).
