Sick sick world what is wrong with people

Did you watch the video? Can you refute any of the facts in it? If its biased, which of the many facts are incorrect? Easy to claim it's biased and I'm arrogant, and in doing so avoid addressing the facts that it states, that break your arguments about the ownership of the land and actions of the hamas

If you can refute any of the facts, I'm listening

If you can't, you have to acknowledge that your previously held views were incorrect

I haven’t shared any views in this thread, other than that I think your posts are taking the wrong tone — accusing people of justifying Hamas’ actions and that last post.

I don’t have any answers, so I’m here to learn from others. My only opinion is that attack as a form of retaliation is never going to work, and that’s on both sides.

The whole thing is fûcked man.

I feel for the Israeli victims AND I feel for the Palestinian Victims.

I feel for the Jewish people that are not being supported like others were when they were attacked by terrorists.

AND

I feel for the Palestinian people that for years have been mistreated, humiliated and dealt with double standards from the west.

like so many Things in todays society this shiît has become tribal, people demand to know what side you are on.

Fück them, there should be no “sides” here, when Hamas do something as abhorrent as what they done this weekend I will call them out for the absolute Cûnts they are. When Israel use white phosphorus in civilian areas, bomb the civilians they told to evacuate etc etc they are being Cûnts as well.

Watch the video then, it explains it all in unrefutable and clear language

Why not outline what is wrong with the posts you dislike then? Practice what you preach. I find it distasteful not to consider views you don’t agree with and question them for being inaccurate in an intelligent way.

The problem I have with anti-zionists is mirrored in this post - it’s a lament and offers nothing pragmatic or forward thinking. Just a historic moan about the wrongs of the past. And in history there are lists of ills. Most of history and conquest is unjust by our modern standards.

A question in the spirit of intellectual dialog: which came first Zionists or antisemitism?

definitely the antisemitism, by hundreds of years

Israeli military ordered the people of Northern Gaza 1.1 million to evacuate to Southern Gaza in 24 hours.

According to the UN, that can't take place without devastating human consequences. A special rapporteur said that forcible population transfers are a 'crime against humanity.

But not unlawful violence and intimidation against civilians in the pursuit of a political aim?
Israel are going to attack (and hopefully wipe out) Hamas.

Hamas have hidden amongst people. Israel are at least giving people the chance to evacuate before they do so.

If Hamas weren't using them as human shields, they wouldn't have to move at all.

You'd prefer that Isreal didn't try to get innocent people out of the way? Then you could come on here and post about it, and it would make you right? It does seem to me you want Isreal to be in the wrong.

Please do not infer brick onto me or make assumptions about others. It is not my side. Others have been criticised by 'your side' for being arogent and presumptious. I'd suggest you refrain from making sweeping statements about other people's moral standards, especially when they are inncorrect. You liked a post re. ethnic cleansing and genocide, I'd suggest checking your own moral standards first and foremost.

I'd prefer actions that didn't include crimes against humanity.

I asked you about the morality of crimes against humanity vs using human shields. You didn't answer. I've asked you things before, you haven't answered. You've repeatedly responded to my posts for being too in group or whatever. You're apparently not doing that to dawaxman for example. I brought that to your attention, you didn't really answer the point.

At that point, yes, I'll infer. You've made several inferences yourself and I've tried being patient about it.

I get the increasing feeling that we're going nowhere or in circles. One of us or both are incapable of having this conversation at this time it seems.

So. Yes? No? Maybe?

Should I have instead stated the vast majority of the adult population of gaza? Splitting hairs much? You understand the point but you try to retort by claiming there's kids in the region.... that's irrelevant to the fact that the vast majority of adults are supporters of Hamas

Anyway, check out this video and educate yourself a bit more:

Re: the video

"Debate me with facts"
- your argument is based on a story book....

"Palestinians don't have a right to the area because Palestine didn't exist until the land was reclassified by the Romans."
- Yeah, you might want to have a look at how Israel came into existence. You can't have it both ways.

"The other Arab nations treat Jews really badly and have done for ages."
- Yeah, no brick. It's not a very nice area, especially when it comes to religious fundamentalism. And if you believe the story book, it's not a new thing - the Philistines and the Israelites fighting is in there.

The Arabs don't like you. That's not, however, an excuse to oppress Palestinians or commit war crimes if you also want to be part of the international community. And if you think it is, and it's justified, fine - then deal with the vilification that comes along with it and understand you make yourself fair game, and vice versa. Sadly, you can't have it both ways. And the international community rules come from a place of colonial power and western privilege. That doesn't mean they are appropriate for every region of the world.

"That's what happens when you try to destroy your neighbours; you might well lose and have to pay the price".
- In the sphere of human cruelty, he has a point. So he obviously agrees that Hamas had the right to do what it did - because, again, you can't have it both ways.

Calling out the existence of UNRWA?! Really?! If it exists, it exists for a reason. To try to protect the civilians. Calling that out as anything other than humanitarian in existence shows a very ugly side to his moral (sorry, "fact based") high ground.

This guy thinks the Jews have a right to the land, but his argument is based on a story book and points in time that suit his argument.
- Jews have no more or less right to the land than Palestinians do or than I do using the premise of his own argument.

His positions are very poorly thought through but ultimately lead to a position that humanity has to do what humanity has always done re: land - so probably best that Israel opens itself up to full on war with the Arab world and fight over whose book is right. The Arab world don't want the Jewish in the region. We all know how human history concludes these issues - seems like there is quite the appetite for it from this guy. With the reports of ISIL, Hezbollah and Iran already involved, maybe that's where we already are.

Again, my conclusion is as such:

Hamas is disgusting. They don't operate by international rules. They also don't pretend to.

Israel has a legitimate right to DEFEND its people. That does not include the indiscriminate bombing it has undertaken or the war crimes it has undertaken. It's actions are disgusting.

And THAT is why Israel are "held to a high standard". Not higher than anyone else that signs up to international laws, but higher than the likes of Hamas et al.

Israel has, once again, shown that it cannot act appropriately as part of the international community it wants to be part of. Perhaps it's genuinely not possible to do so.

Ultimately this all comes to one question, which I'll word in two ways:

-Can Israel (or any other non Arab nation) exist in that region in relative peace?

-Can Jews (and almost certainly any other non Arab religion) coexist in the region?

The answer to that is almost certainly no. So the choice is for one side to leave or war until the issue is solved - such has been human history.

The capacity of humans to take the fight in the fight or flight response and apply it to ideological survival rather than physical survival is quite incredible, and equally pathetic.

100%

Indoctrination is a tactic often used but rarely as successful as the biggest recruitment tactic for these groups, desperation and despair of innocent civilians who have seen their families and way of life torn apart. I believe our governments are complicit in that recruitment process. It’s a bare-faced lie to say the majority of the Palestinian population are pro-Hamas. There is an abundance of younger people wishing for an end to the conflict and free movement to experience a way of life away from the depravity of occupation. Iran has the same ‘problem’ with the vast majority of the younger generation campaigning (and dying) for a more secular environment.

Wrong is wrong and right is right.
It doesn't matter if it's a "side" that you have sympathy or empathy with, whether it's a group that you an affiliation with, or a people you have a soft spot for.
When they do wrong call them out, you don't need to own their actions, it needn't define you.

Definitely not.

They're asking people to move to keep them safe from the war that is about to start. Evacuating civilians during a war is fairly commonplace, I'd have thought - which government (outside of murderous terrorists) would want their people to stay in place when a war begins?

On another note, I just heard the French proving they have significant testicular fortitude announcing a minute of silence for the terrorist attacks.

Sadly I agree with your two only scenarios. Sad isn't it?

I hope everyone in this thread can be civil, respectful, and empathetic.
Most of us don't know each other.
Some will have friends and family directly impacted by events.
I am no-one to make the following request other than a human being, but...please try to be kind and empathetic.

I do wonder if China are sitting back and thinking “whilst everyone’s looking over there, why don’t we take Taiwan?” And suddenly we’ve got war in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

In words, yes
In actions, no
