Early days still, but looks like an excellent goalkeeper.
Celebrates a save like he scored a hattrick, must be infectious/fun to be part of that.
It's interesting because with him and Romero I think you have two players that delight in defending, they want to be that last line.

Indeed, i know our back line came in for stick last season ( some of it was deserved without a doubt) but it did not help any of them to have Lloris not showing he could be trusted. We now seem to have a keeper who our defenders trust and long may it last.
Just to make it clear i am not blaming Lloris for all our defensive shambles last season but he did not inspire confidence to the players in front of him.
The mix of players/chemistry did not work
- Lloris, Dier, Sanchez is a panic waiting for a time/place to happen
- The lack of press resistance in that back line was also an issue
Truly incredible that 3 young players who have never played in the PL and one with a few appearances can transform a defense instantly

Do not disagree with any of that, but it did not help as a defender if you are playing in front of a keeper who is always likely to make another mistake. Do not get me wrong i have said on here that Lloris is the 3rd best keeper i have seen in our shirt but he was ONE of the reasons we were let in so many really poor goals last season.

As long as we don't turn on them when the mistakes and goals inevitably happen. As you say, we have no right to expect such a young and inexperienced defence to work so well so quickly.

All led by a manager that never managed in the PL either.
Meanwhile, I thought Raya would've been the safer option as he has PL experience but it turns out our Vicario is cruising along under the radar still. The less media exposure these players get, the better IMO.

Reya statistically has been brilliant too
He is a very good keeper
I prefer Vicario myself though

Raya is better with his feet but I think vicario has better reflexes. Both would have been good in this team. We still need to improve the quality of the bench so I'm happy with vicario.

His feet aren't flashy and he maybe can't quite play some of the most eye catching passes that the likes of Neuer, Allison or Ter Stergen can play but he can pass well with both feet. He seems very untroubled whether the ball is on his left or right which is a fantastic feature to have in a ball playing keeper. It just gives the players a lot of freedom to involve him in beating the press.

It’s like chalk and cheese and maybe why I rate his kicking so highly
He isn’t a creator from GK but he is a driver for the way we okay now and it’s so much better than before

Lloris was godawful with his feet even by old school keeper standards. [emoji28]
Fantastic keeper, but not one you ever wanted to see with the ball at his feet. It used to confuse me why Conte was so adamant on playing out from the back with Lloris as the keeper least suited to do so. I mean seriously is their a keeper in the PL with worse feet than Lloris? [emoji1787]

No argument that Lloris was poor, but Forster played a large chunk of last season and our defensive issues didn’t go away.

Composure and good close control is a bit underrated while excellent passing is perhaps slightly overrated imo. For goalkeepers and centre backs.
He's a very good fit for what we do. Even better passing would be useful of course, but it's not necessary. And being a great shot stopper is much more useful.

It's the combination of it all. New goalkeeper, two entirely new defenders, one that was only here for half of last season. One new midfielder and two who played very little last season.
Romero and Porro are the only first choice players from last season that remain first choice out of that midfield, defense and gk.
But if Lloris was still first choice we would be quite a lot worse, I'm certain of it.
