Manchester United have appointed the architects who designed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to draw up plans for the redevelopment of Old Trafford.

Architect firm Populous and management consultants Legends International will work together with the aim of increasing the stadium's capacity.

Both companies worked on Tottenham's 63,000-seater stadium which opened in 2019.

Old Trafford currently has a capacity of 74,000.

"Work will begin immediately on developing options for Old Trafford and studying their feasibility, with the aim of significantly enhancing the fan experience," a statement on the club's website said.

"Fans will be at the heart of the process, starting with a meeting between the consultants and the Manchester United fans' advisory board later this month."

Last month, it was reported that United were considering a number of options for redevelopment, including demolishing Old Trafford and building a new stadium.

Three sides of Old Trafford have been expanded over the past three decades but the South Stand has posed a problem because it is close to a railway line.

The club also want to improve their training ground and have appointed architecture and design firm KSS to draw up plans for an "expanded, state-of-the-art facility".
Be interesting to see if it gets Levy levels of detail.

Yeah, I was going to add that whilst it’s nice to have broken new ground with what we have delivered i don’t like the idea of other teams benefiting from any lessons learned during the build!

Can you seen them doing a completely brand new stadium though? They wouldn’t have any option of renting anywhere whilst development was ongoing as far as I’m aware.

Wembley? Closer to their fans.

Mopo has tainted his reputation at PSG
After 1 season? I don't think so. Poch will do what other coaches have done before him, win all the domestic trophies. If PSG want to challenge for the Champions League he needs to rebuild the team, rid it of the big fancy dan names and put in young hungry players. Like he did at Spurs, but with the money to actually buy the best young talent around.

Difficult to know why United have taken the Ten Haag route although I believe he is also a very good manager. The big drawbacks are i he doesn't have the experience of managing the big egos or managing in the PL. I wanted us to go after Ten Haag after we sacked Jose.

Ten Haag was one unbelievable, very-last-second Lucas Moura goal away from beating Poch and taking Ajax to the CL final. Ergo, say MancU, he's just about the same deal. And without any political hassles getting him clear of his current club.

Massive overhaul needed in the summer.

Have to replace:
Pogba
Cavani
Ronaldo
Greenwood
Martial
Lingard
Mata

What I was thinking too. They have an almighty rebuild to do. Quite funny that they've been paying Mata £160k per week for the last few years to really do nothing.

Guessing their problem is that no one will take on the wages. So he stays there enjoying the income.

Pic didn't show for me.

They were appalling tonight. My sincere condolences to Ronaldo (awful thing for any parent to go through), but without him ManU really are fudging awful. Lets face it, he was the difference against us and Norwich. If I were Ten haag, I would avoid them like the plague.
