Harry Kane MBE

Can understand if some people take the view that you have done. Its why its odd that neither the club nor Kane have tried to explain the mis-understanding. Kane in particular has come off worse for this so would have been better for him to clarify things.

Suggests to me that they have some confidentiality undertaking which prevents them from speaking openly about it. Why they have that CA in place...who knows. Have they agreed to broad terms of a future sale? Is there some sort of scheming between club/player in order to force Emirates Marketing Project's hand sooner before they'd signed Grealish and the season was underway? It feels that there is something in the background along these lines and that both have agreed that its better to keep quiet about

The problem is his explanation was entirely self-serving and a little too late. If it had been Monday night then that would have been more plausible but people just aren’t buying his excuses. Usually people apologise when they make a mistake and he hasn’t.

Amazed about how negative some people on here are about Kane.

Yes, he wanted a move so that he could win trophies. I dont think that's unreasonable

The events of the last week have been poorly handled, and poorly communicated on his wide, but we all eff up at times

If he performs well next season, all will be foregiven
Sorry but what reaction are you expecting when a guy refuses to turn up for training to try and force through a move? All this after doing that pathetic interview with Neville? No one ever had an issue with him leaving for trophies, this was not the way to go about it.

And no it will not all be forgiven if he continues to bang in the goals next season. The players aren’t even supportive of him. There are some things people don’t forget, and he really has tainted his legacy. He just doesn’t have that same aura around him anymore and no amount of goals will change that….

I’ve watched him play for years now.

It’s a fact.
No, it is an opinion. But since you’ve seen him play, you should be able to back up your opinion with facts fairly easy, right? And also, saying “he is probably not good enough for Spurs because x, y, z” is quite all right, and anyone should accept that. It is the unsubstantiated “he is brick”-statements (and worse) I’m mostly directing this at.

Could be some CA, but with Kane making the statement he now did that seems unlikely.

I think the club are just smart to keep quiet. There's a fee where we'll let him go I think, that hasn't been matched by any club so there's just no way to know what will happen. Better to just keep quiet in a situation like that.

That's the world we live in everything is either fantastic or dross, theres no room for the middle ground or reason.

Just because someone was your best fudge once doesn't mean you marry them for life

That analogy doesn’t work at all. To use the same train of thought, you should say “just because someone was your best fudge, doesn’t mean you should remember them like that.”

If my comments were in line with your analogy, I would be saying give him a contract for the rest of his life. Which actually, I would do for Harry, if he would have me. Unfortunately, it seems like he’s fallen out of love with me, because I’m not the same person as I was a few years ago.

Interesting seeing the juxtaposition between Kane and Son right now. When I think of Berbatov or Modric I don’t have the feeling I do with King or Mabbutt. Son has cemented his legacy at the club now and will go into that category of legend. There is something special when a player finishes his career at a club and gives his best years. Others players maybe more talented but they aren’t more loved - Klinsmann, Modric etc. Seeing those pictures of Daws and King in the other thread makes me feel it does mean something to players to have a home.

No, no and no mate ..

The vast majority of Spurs fans were "understanding" of Harry moving on at the end of last season, all of the negativity was at the club and Levy for the regression of the previous 18 months.

He has not handled this badly for two weeks, he has been working with City (and their scumbag approach) for months to effectively engineer a situation where Spurs take a low ball offer, from the Neville interview (purposely putting out a number of £100M), to Pep's flimflam interviews to his not turning up for training, not talking to the new manager.

To want to leave is not an issue, but to fudge over the club to benefit an oil state? that is the same league as Sol. Spurs will survive Harry Keane leaving, but clearly the best chance for us would have been him leaving early in the window for a fair price so we can re-invest in squad and try again to succeed where he failed to take us.

Let me spell this out for you, Harry Kane and City
- Were hoping we were so fudged by Covid/Stadium we would take any offer
- Did a full media campaign to set up the "Spurs failures have nothing to do with me, so I need to move on" message (Again not good for the club trying to attract new players)
- When none of that worked, has basically broken his contractual obligations to the club and gone on strike
- Then follows that up with a brick PR message that bricks on the fans

As vs.

- Have a real conversation with City, get a real offer on the table
- Do same with Levy, say I get it, but I'm going to do my bets to ensure Spurs gets fair compensation
- Get the deal done early in summer, keep it quiet till later if both clubs want so we get replacement
- Turn up to fudging training to keep the circus noise down (Grealish and Romero both turned up to theirs)

This guy is so way beyond forgiveness it's amazing you are amazed by negativity towards him

some ex player posted something close to that recently, along the lines of

When you career is over, having a club/place to come back to where people still welcome and love you, is worth more than any trophy you will ever win.

Suppose Kane had come back to training when he was supposed to and not said a word until Emirates Marketing Project made an acceptable bid He would have left a hero. But no, he effectively went on strike without Emirates Marketing Project ever making a serious bid.

Heck even Berbatov turned up for training, although he did subsequently say his head was not in the right place to play.

Spurs, the club, has treated Winks well. We, the fans, have not! (some of us, at least).
For the last two years there has been loud groans at best, outright chicanery at worst, everytime his name is on the teamsheet.

I get the frustration. I get the emotions when someone we had high hopes for doesn't live up to the promise from the get-go.
What I don't get is that someone actually think it is going to help to destroy whatever confidence the player in question may have left.

People talk about Kane "feeling the love" from the fans. Well, guess what, they can feel the other emotions also. And it may hurt. A lot.

The problem with Winks and some of the fans is that most of the critique is circumstancial, emotional and not based on facts or stats. (I'm not saying Winks have made no mistake, caused no goal against, or anything). But whenever Winks plays, he can outperform whoever he is playing alongside, but the haters will still say he was brick. He can outpass them, with the stats clearly showing mixed passing, through-passes and diagonal passes, the haters are still going to say "he just passes sideways and back, three yards."

I'm not shy of giving critique to players. But I try to base it on facts, not emotions. And usually the facts are not what is in the front of your mind 5 minutes after the final whistle.
Many a time I've been furious after a loss

Oh, and "Winks is brick, that's a fact" is not a fact. It is an opinion without the facts to back it up.

But he is brick though :p

One thing Kane needs to realise is that it will be highly unlikely that we will sell him before we bring a striker in even if Emirates Marketing Project match Levy's valuation

much as it pains me to say it, I agree with you Raziel. There's been nothing but self serving actions since the back end of last season. From the "what's the fudging point" he was seen to mouth during a game, to the interview, the doe eyed lone walk around the stadium clapping meekly, then the complete refusal to quash the stories when asked by the press during England games, and the subsequent no show for training - its all orchestrated to facilitate his departure. Add to that the fact that Pep has now clearly been told to go outspoken about their interest (he would normally say something neutral like "he's their player, I couldn't comment" etc) and it all feels very predictable, inevitable and well, Berbaesque, Balelike, and other players who have sought to bully their way out of the club. The only way it could be worse was if he was trying to go to Chelski or the Gooners.

I just think I would take £130mil for him now rather than £150mil on the last day and have this drag itself out.

Get the money, play expensive money ball and get three quality players in for a departing kane.

To think I used to rate Kane, thought he was a model professional. A player that respected the club, its values, and had a level of loyalty. Now, I think he’s a self serving media attention loving, greedy, danchev. I hate that there’s so much focus on him now and whether he turns up for training etc I’d prefer not to hear anything until he’s signed for another club for a lot of money which can be spent to replace him and build a better future for the club. Hopefully the move works out for him as well as Carr’s move did for him.

It’s pretty amazing that some people have convinced themselves Harry’s never done one good thing for our club.

Sorry mate but that is rubbish, he has done a lot of great things here and i have not seen anyone say he has not. What is tinkling folks off ( me included) is the way he has acted over the last couple of weeks. I have no problem with him wanting to leave i have posts one here going back for a while saying if we do not win something soon i can not blame him for wanting to move to a club that can offer him the chance to do so.

What has tinkled folks off has been the way he has gone about doing it, not turning up for training, mouthing off to Neville etc.
