Your controversial Spurs views

Ricky Villa's goal was overrated
Ziege's free kick was better than Gascoignes.
Bale will never be world class, but a very very good footballer.
Huddlestone when fit should always start.
Lennon is the most important footballer in our team.
Corluka was better than Walker.
Dawson doesnt have a future in our team.

Some fans say he was only bad for a season or two, I think he cost us at least 12 points in 05/06 the season of the lasagne.

I have a theory that he suffered from temporary blindness whenever a player shot from outside the area.

I lost count the amount of times I used to shout "DIVE" at him when he just stood there rooted whilst a shot trickled by him!

He was quality for us in his first two seasons. Certainly we didn't let in many long rangers. Then he flapped at a few crosses in the World Cup, lost all his confidence and put on loads of weight and got beaten by an Ivan Campo 40 yarder on the first day of the 06/07 season and it was all downhill from there.

I think Darren Bent would have had a hat full of goals if he had still been with us last season. Big mistake selling him.

It started way before that.

I remember clocking Seaman's face after Lineker's 1st goal in the '91 Semi, and feeling a bit sorry for him

I don't think it did. I don't remember him being beaten by any long rangers before that except this one:

My controversial viewpoint is that I quite liked Ruel Fox. Granted, I didn't go to many matches when I was a kid and only saw his highlights on MOTD, but he always came across as a nippy winger with a lot of pace and good technique, kinda like Nathan Dyer or Victor Moses today.

The club was no where near ambitious enough under Sugar to keep a player of Klinsmanns calibre. I don't blame him and of course he returned to save us from relegation.

Not sure if this is considered controversial but I always considered Gross unlucky for being left with the shambles created by Francis and Sugar. The problems at Spurs at that time were not of his making.

Definitely made errors prior to that though. Pires at the Lane springs to mind

And one at Old Trafford the week before. But that was it. In the 06/07 season he started letting long rangers go past him and then in the 07/08 season he forgot how to catch the ball too and was costing us goals practically every game.

Ramos would have turned it round if we'd backed him till and during the January transfer window.

Chris Armstrong was way better than Defoe.

David Pleat is an intelligent guy who should be respected.

Kyle Walker will never be as good a defender (not player) as Corluka.

I have a crush on AVB (top 3 in the 'Johnny Depp straight man love' group behind vdV and Krancjar).

The Walker one isn't that silly

Armstrong certainly wasn't as bad as people made out, didn't he score 20+ goals for us in his first season?

As for the rest of them :ross:

I rated Erik Edman despite most Spurs fans not liking him.

I prefer the McNamara's band song they play at half time at the lane to Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur
