Next Manager?

What is very little? Is £50m very little these days?

Depends who you are asking, I can't imagine Levy would consider £50m "very little" :)

It's all speculation, but if we're honest when have we ever had a large transfer budget? it's always been scraps compared to other teams - my only hope would be if we sell Kane then it's all reinvested.

So IF they have had leaks from the club why have they changed their pieces/minds so many times, i think the importance of what Gold/ Dan K say is vastly over rated by s ome fans. As for other teams i have no idea as to what other clubs do/say/promise etc does not concern me in the slightest.

I may be wrong ( it does happen ;)) but i have never read/heard the likes of Gold suggest that it was all a ruse by Levy to sell S/T like some fools have suggested. Listen i am just as upset as other fans are over our situation at the moment but there are several who are not willing to look at this for what it is. We need a manger for sure and i am pretty sure we will have one pretty soon, i am not going to throw my toys out of the pram because its taking longer then s ome think it should do.

I am sure i have read s ome where on here fans slagging of the club for not signing any players yet. Jesus Christ the window is not even fudging open yet.

I don’t think that Gold, Dan KP or JPB say is gospel in the sense that what they report will definitely happen, but they have close links with the club. They will put out there what the club gives them. The club will use the media to shape narratives just like every other institution.

With Conte, we have to ask ourselves why these links were allowed to be so strong. We are not a club that lets them out unless we want to. The people running with it were credible journos on the Spurs side, not just from the Italian side. And it wasn’t just that he posed the question to Conte, clearly these talks went very deep.

I just don’t get how you go for him so strongly, knowing what he is like. I appreciated Levy aiming high because an opportunity presented itself. But now we look so small time, so unambitous, and it had such a good chance of happening the exact way that it did that I can only assume Levy is stupid, or it was cynical because of the season ticket deadline. I’m not even sure if season ticket renewals would be worth it (but I suspect it is a big part of the story we tell banks to get good rates) but otherwise I just can’t fathom a reason we would make the club look so small time after this.

It feels like a rooster up. It went against the Spurs DNA statement. Opportunism is fine, but to have it blow up for entirely predictable reasons…stupidity or cynicism for me.

What makes the situation so depressing, I think, is that it feels like we're back to square one: Mourinho and Graham have similarities (proven winners, dour football, unpopular - although it goes without saying they're not on the same scale) and they were sacked in similar circumstances. I don't know if this plays some subcounscious role in our current state of mind. Sometimes, I can't help but think we're like Sysiphus: we've pushed our rock to the top of the mountain but instead of being able to stay there, we let it slip and now we have to do it all over again.

Whether he's a big name or not, let's hope the next man in charge will be able to instill some much-needed optimism. Despite the club being in a much better position than it was in the early 90s, it's been all doom and gloom for the past three years. I think we really need someone who can make supporting Spurs enjoyable again.

He literally does that in the video he linked on his Twitter from yesterday. Literally - says he wouldn't blame fans at all for thinking this was a ruse to sell STs.

Window's not open yet? Someone should tell Liverpool, Leicester, and about 100 other clubs that, because they've already started. I'm sure the lying c*nt we have in charge is the real genius that simply outthought all these other clubs, though.

The fudging window does not open until the 9th of June so are you telling me that these players have been signed out side the window.?

They have agreed a deal, nothing signed yet though and will not be until the 9th of June. No point is asking you if we MAY have done the same with players as all we will get is another rant about Levy. Sad as it may sound i am becoming worried about you and your hysterical rants.

Christ, this is just desperate deflection on a new level - expected better mate, honestly.

Read it. On their club website.

'Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old defender has agreed a long-term contract with the Reds from July 1, subject to international clearance and a successful work permit application process, after finalising terms and passing a medical.'

Did you read that bit?

As for us, do you want to bet we won't have any players lined up on the 9th of June? 100 pounds to a charity of your choice - I bet our lying c*nt of a coward in a charge has nothing lined up.

Mate, @DubaiSpur is right. These clubs have agreed deals and have signed those players, their registration won’t transfer until the date but the deals are done. Clubs are making moves already and we are still without a manager. It’s a fair point to raise.

This seems to happen every year

“windows not opened yet, it doesn’t matter”

we then drag our feet.

we need to do a LOT of work (Which you agree with) - should have already started - let its being delayed by us not having a manager in place.

I stand corrected then, all i will say its pointless having these rules if clubs are allowed to bye pass them.

I can not/do not disagree with a lot of that and like everyone else i wished we has secured a new manager and we can start looking at the LOT of work we need to do for next season. My point is that there is no point in anyone frothing at the mouth about it ( not saying its you who is).

He first said that he didn't think it was true. That someone had already sent him the numbers of season tickets sold a while back.

I think people are justified in frothing. These are big decisions that say everything about the ambition of the club and our standing in the game.

When a few weeks ago it looked like we might be in the Potter / Martinez side of things, unable to attract a more proven name, I was very sceptical of ENIC, and felt they had taken us as far as they can. I listened to a number of people who made fair points, and said spend in the new stadium should go up and put us closer to Liverpool and Chelsea. We then get heavily linked with Poch and Conte, and I’m totally willing to think ‘Damn, I was wrong, the club is entering a new phase and Levy is making the moves to take us forward.’

But it didn’t work that way. We are now back to a position where it looks like if we are lucky we can sign ETH, and a world class manager has turned us down because he doesn’t believe we have the ambition to win. I don’t think Conte would want City levels of money, I think he would have been with money closer to the top 3/4 spend in the league which looked like it may have been a realistic proposition given the new stadium.

These are big, serious decisions that say a lot about where the club is heading and how far the owners can take us. Conte would have been a real statement that we are here to stay in the top table of clubs. I think it would have shown Kane he could be serious about winning here, and we would have given it a real go. As far as I’m concerned, the only way Levy saves this summer is by bringing Poch back now. To sack Poch, to hire Jose, to then decide you needed a ‘DNA’ manager all along, only to then fail on an opportunistic bid for a free, title winning coach, to end up with an inferior / less experienced version of Poch having overseen a slide from 3rd to 7th (I’m counting the 0 signings in this slide) and from the Champions League to the Conference League? Nah…Levy is done for me if he can’t get Poch back.

I will accept an admission of mistakes that have been made, and a desire to now get back onto the right path, and right a wrong. I will not accept that getting an inferior version of Poch after a slide to 7th and losing our best player being any indication of competent leadership on the football side, or that we intend to genuinely fight for titles.

The Telegraph say Spurs felt the manager’s demands were ‘”unrealistic” in the current financial climate during the coronavirus pandemic’.

Hmmm, if true that sounds like we have very little money to spend.
Very few teams will have money to spend, but what we do have should hopefully go further than it has in previous years

We have been in the top 4 spend wise since the opening of the stadium.

Conte might have been a statement, but nobody knows what he was looking for. If it's unrealistic and he expects us to do the work of 3-4 windows in one window, won't work with youth (and it looks like we have some potentially special players) then he is not the right fit.
