Next Manager?

Tell me about it, Skirinar and Diaz were smoke and mirrors for Rodon. He was the actual defender that he wanted all along.

Bergwijn was a treat too, was first on the transfer request from Mourinho.

Need I go on?

There's the other story going round that Hitchen had put together an early in the window deal for Diaz, but Mourinho only wanted Skirinar. So it was that disagreement that meant we got neither

Doherty and Vinicius were 100% Mourinho signings because they are Jorge Mendes players.

We had a lot of positions that needed strengthening - if he had got his 40-65m defender at the expense of other positions then that'd be the new excuse.

Iirc he spoke about being happy with the backing he got at the time, which is in contrast to how he spoke of his backing at United

Was that in his whole desperate repositioning his image phase.

I don't disagree, but if Conte is coming he is only doing so for the pay off in 18 months time

Don't get this rational from judging conte .... please enlighten me.

His career started at the lows of serie B and was then appointed in roles at more capable clubs, finding his way to Juve where he stuck it out for three years only to leave for the national team.

Wanting to get back into club management he went to Chelsea who historically never keep a manager for more than two years no matter how much they succeed.

He wanted to build a legacy like poch there and even said so.

A little perspective would help I think.

His only failing was atalanta.

I think it's time we appoint a manager and put an end to this circus. Some people are blowing a fuse. It's just the begining, yeah right. Talk about delusions of grandeur...

I would not bother too much about fans blowing a fuse on football forums, its what a lot of them do on very LITTLE knowledge on what is really going on.

How do you know such info gutterboy ? Doherty at the time of signing was seen as a bargain by every spurs fan that I know. Carlos was a player that came in and covered on loan, what's the problem?

You don't think we actually had a better crack at the final with Mason? The way we were playing there was no belief or enthusiasm from the players.

Obviously, something you were doing was not to the owners liking. If it happened several times...
The point I am making is Owners can't stop themselves from tinkering/interfering - its almost a human instinct. Not too bothered how my gigs ended - I left them in better shape than I found them - but I just don't see the Levy leopard changing his spots... :(

Diaz was never going to pick us when City came in for him and Inter decided not to sell Škriniar. That happens, it's got nothing to do with backing.

Bergwijn was clearly an opportunistic club signing. That happens at all clubs. Rodgers has nothing to do with transfers at Leicester, it doesn't mean that he isn't backed.

Last summer Doherty and Højbjerg were clearly Mourinho signings. Vinicius was meant to be his first choice striker and us doing more business with Mendes was clearly a result of Mourinho being at the club.

So how is this about mourinho getting his finger prints all over it?

Hojberg was excellent. Carlos meant to be a first choice striker? Really? Since when does mourinho play with two strikers? He was brought in for cover hence the loan and did a cracking job under the circumstances.

Wheels falling off Conte deal...my early bet on Southgate looking more of a certainty by the hour.

Can't see that actually being the case btw. Just clickbait by reporters with space to fill. Everything points to it being done.

No one knows anything - I just said that was an alternative narrative by some of the journalists at the time.

Vinicius was a decent loan and few predicted Doherty morphing in Gary. I was addressing the point that Mourinho wasn't backed with transfers, by pointing out that those two were his best pal's players.

Like most of them out there this guy is nothing but hot air. Will follow this up with either 'As I earlier suggeseted the Conte deal is not happening' or 'Conte has been persuaded to manage Spurs after being given assurances regarding funds available to spend'. This ITK nonsense is easy, and it amazes me the amount of grown men who genuinely set suckered into it.....

Who do I want as a manager? Don't know. It would be nice to have Poch back and succeed, not so nice if he fails. Again. Other than that, I could not care less about the name of the manager and what he has achieved in this or that club. Success is dependant on so many factors other that who's in charge and even your own club. It's not only the level that your club is on, but also those around it. To be honest, Poch had a system which looked really good, but it wasn't a sustainable one without regular renewal of the squad, and without a solid kingpin it is really transparent and easily falls apart. His best years also came in a period where the top was in a bit of a turmoil, where City had a great squad but an average team, and mainstays like United and Arsenal were in free fall. Likewise, an average squad can make up a great team, if you have the right topping. Heck, even Leicester could be champions, and Norway was at a time 4th on the Fifa ranking.

What I'm looking for in a manager is a direct one, who has a system in place and who brings in players primarily to fit that system, not adapting the system to showboating but inferior and ineffective players. Equally as important, being able to identify and bring in those players. No, I'm not talking about needing Ronaldo and Messi to be competitive. A while back Poch looked like that man, but what was his strength became his weakness. Shoehorning in players at the expense of the team. Would I want, say Pep? No. Would I be opposed? Probably not. Achieving success at a huge company with even greater funds doesn't necessarily equate to success as the manager of a chip shop. Put it this way, I would rather have a "prime" Wenger than a "prime" Ferguson. I cannot remember ever "wanting" a manager other than Hoddle, and that was a hugely emotional one. On the other hand, I cannot remember actively not wanting a manager either, other than Mourinho and Graham. Right now, I just want a manager who makes us play something that looks like organised football again.
