Jose Mourinho - SACKED

I can't imagine being in Jose's shoes and knowing that fans dislike him as much as I am seeing on this board.

It is only how many games left in the season, get behind the manager and wish/pray for success. His success is Spurs success. Spurs success makes us all happy.

I asked someone this question this week. Should winning the Carabao mean the league form/situation is cast aside and Jose stays.

You know what doesn’t seem to get mentioned alongside the league stuff, we also failed in the FA Cup in a very winnable one off game to Everton, and we failed in the EL against Dinamo Zagreb and being 2-0 up.

The sum of our achievements this season has been to navigate our way past:

Chelsea on pens
Stoke
Brentford

And all of this while alienating about half of the squad.

Should we really even be discussing what happens in the final?

You missed off the free 'bye' we received as well, with Orient game cancelled.

You're 100% correct, a Carabao Cup should not save Jose, but it's clear Levy doesn't want to pull the trigger. He craved Jose, got him in, and he's been proven wrong.

It's nearly 2 years since he came in, have we improved in any way, shape or form? If anything, we've regressed and he's brought in around 7 players.

Spurs have given me some fantastic feel good times, especially in the decade since Martin Jol got us half-decent again. But since Christmas it has been one long downer. Don't watch the games now as I'm sure we will lose against anyone half-decent, and then find it is all the players fault and nothing to do with the manager. I'll renew my ST but if Mourinho is still manager next season, I can imagine the atmosphere at WHL rapidly becoming toxic.

Plenty thought he was worth a gamble and have been proven wrong. There was a big upside if we got something like the old Mourinho, but it didn't work out.
Levy isn't going to pull the trigger on any manager in the current situation, he'll wait to the end of the season, take stock and then decide.
Hopefully he makes it quick and gets a new manager in very early in the summer.

"Spurs success makes us all happy"

This bit I think we all can agree with.

However for an ever-increasing number of us, there is a view that Jose is past the point of no return and we either limp on to his inevtiable sacking during next season, or we cut him off sooner such that we can move on sooner and don't wreck this summer and next season

Appreciate you're not in that place though, which is fair enough. Jose is lucky that grounds are empty though!!

Levy will already know what he is going to do imo.

Carrying on into next season and it blowing up then is worst case scenario. Another season disrupted, gone.

He'll need to discuss things with the senior players. They're thoughts will input into what he has to do and needs to do.

That would be my guess too. Or at the very least a pretty clear idea of how different outcomes this season will lead to different decisions.

For me one of the key things I've wanted to see is a level of consistency in terms of performances. If we had seen that I think there would be reasons to think that this improvement could be continued into next season.

Mourinho is right now getting to the point where he's running out of games to show consistency over a meaningful sample.

I find it hard to find reasons for keeping him around. If Levy decides to do that it will be interesting to speculate about his reasons for doing that.

Hard to say with any certainty. None of us know what effects that would have had on us or any other teams, positive or negative.

I meant in terms of reaction from fans. Clearly we cant predict how it may have impacted results, but if we were where we are today, and playing as we are today, the atmosphere would be awful

I see your point, and this comes back to one of my earlier posts, we haven't moved forward after 1 year and 5 months of him in charge and several signings. At best, we've stood still, although based on league position, fair to say we've regressed.

To keep harking back to the same point, Moyes is maximising his squads ability, Jose isn't. And that's a damning statement on him as our manager.

Not that it changes the point of your post which I agree with but in league position we haven’t regressed as of yet, we was 7th after 31 games last season too....

We have been consistently throwing away points from leading positions all season, though.

I think there are probably stats that suggest Jose is doing fine and conversely stats that show we are underperforming/underachieving.

Its the bloody eye and ear test that's the problem. And I know that only leads to an opinion.
But if it looks like a duck....and sounds like a duck...it probably is.?
