Jose Mourinho - SACKED

We'll save half of the £30m on the next manager's wages though (i.e. for the next 18 months, we'll probably pay the next man considerably less than we were planning to pay Jose) so the net cost of binning him is perhaps £15m

This is a very good point actually. The cost of firing Mourinho isn’t his and his staff’s wages. We’d be paying that anyway if we keep him. The cost is the new man.

thank you! Have been saying this for a while, and finally someone agrees with me!!!

We are broke, I can’t see us paying the 30-40 million to get rid of Jose and all the staff

We then have to pay a new manager and any potential comp if we want to get someone that isn’t Alan Pardew

They will also expect a proper budget to re-do the squad

I just can’t see Levy pulling the trigger.

It would mean ENIC putting money into the club.

Well, the other cost is the image of our club going down the toilet. We're shambolic at the moment. Pity the poor new commercial director trying to sell the stadium naming rights whilst we're like this!

Of course he needs to go.... If a manager with 4 CL qualifications in a row for us can be sacked after 14 points from 12 games, then the next one who has 10 points from 12 games surely also has to go?

of course the problem is that our very clever chairman is going to have to spend 30 odd million £ getting rid of him.

There's a pattern, get within reach of the summit and fail. CL final and top the league then crash.

The naming rights are unlikely to be affected too much

I imagine there will be tie ins for being in the CL

but you are still naming a stadium with NFL/PL/Rugby/Concert coverage in London.

Another item to add to the list of our chairman’s fantastic achievements in earning his second highest PL director’s salary.

Mourinho post match when asked if questioning his methosd "No, not at all. Zero. Mine and my coaching staff methods are second to nobody in the world."

I think I’ve come to the conclusion that we are a bit catch 22 now.

We can’t defend right (Jose style) as the players really aren’t good enough to sustain that (yes we nicked a few games whilst others were struggling but it wasn’t sustainable with this group).

If we flip to attack I think we have the wrong guy in charge. We had 20 ‘chances’ today - but we had numerous other openings where players just choose the wrong option or don’t make the most of situations. Maybe an attacking manager could get us tuned in to taking these chances - like Poch did. No doubt the unfamiliar nature of attacking is having an affect on end product.

It’s quite clear for me now that we should go with the following for the time being:

Hugo

Doherty
CB
CB
Reguilon

Hojbjerg
Sissoko

Bale
Ndom
Son

Kane

It’s a simplistic approach that lets us attack with up to 6 players at once (on either side) but also leaves a ‘box’ of CBs and CMs that protect Hugo. Poch done this with only Dier protecting the 2 CBs so it should be achievable.

All of this can only work if the players go out and give it their all!

no ones getting the ball to the front four in that line up as we have seen already this season.

Kane
Son Lamela or Dele Bale
Hojberg Ndombele
Regulion Toby Rodon Aurier
Lloris

Dele/Lamela aren't perfect but that team is our best bet of getting the ball in to the attacking third and something being created once it's there.

stop changing the CB pairings and back four in general game to game will also reduce the number of mistakes being made

I like that too. And would probs go Aurier too. But Hojb won’t be able to protect the CBs on his own I don’t think.

In my setup it would be Tang or the full backs transitioning the ball to the forwards from that box of CBs and CMs.

I've seen a few posters on here going on about our image being damaged/ruined. What exactly is this image?
People I know who support other clubs generally see us a bit of a laughing stock, have done for the last 25 years or more.

so more of a 433 than a 4231 then?

maybe but it's sacrificing an attacking player imo and if Ndombele is the one transitioning the ball from midfield to the final third you still need a creative outlet once it's there - you can't expect the same player bringing the ball forwards to be the one to create once there, imo

With the CB pairing we've all come to the conclusion they're all pretty average/useless/past it/potential so with that and bearing in mind how important those positions are Jose really needs to decide on his best 2 and stick with them.
All this chopping and changing (except for injuries) doesn't help.

Maybe he thought today’s was his best two

Just as long as Eric Dier isn’t one of those two....
