***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Cheat$ki***

That's why I won't be watching. We'll be exactly the same as vs Brighton, only less up for it.

I'm going to watch, even though I'm expecting another shocker of a performance and a loss.

We'll end up having considerably less than 50% possession which when defending isn't your strength makes no sense. Even if we did nothing with the ball, at least if we kept it a bit more we'd reduce the chances the opposition have. Instead we play it long and quickly though....

Tuchel is a possession obsessive
I’d be stunned if we had more than 35% of the ball

Hard to predict the line up with the recent defensive changes.

he said Aurier is back in training, would be a surprise to me to see him trust Doherty but if we do I’d hope it was as a RWB. Sissoko put in some decent crosses against Brighton but can’t see us risking him at RB.
Vincius has to start, I’m not sure what impact he will have but the alternative just weakens two positions. I can see him goof for Lamela ahead of Bergwijn, similar goal threat but Lamela will give some much needed spite of the ball, which will be our default position for most of the game.
It seems Jose prefers 3 at the back to allow Ndombele to play deeper, but if we do go 4-3-3 I expect Sissoko and PEH with NDom further ahead. I think Dier may get a recall and hope Rodon keeps his place.

Lloris

Aurier. Rodon. Dier. Davies

PEH. Sissoko
Ndombele

Lamela. Vincius. Son.

I think that he will play 3-4-3 but I would line up:

Lloris

Aurier Rodon Dier Davies

Winks Hojbjerg Ndombele

Bergwijn Vinicius Son

Surely we cannot play 3 at the back, even Mourinho must realise we don't have a LWB at all and it leaves us short in midfield?

@LutonSpurs, we cannot play Davies at LWB again, that would be awful.

Dele is unfit and has gone away for a few days off I think.

Therefore Milo is correct IMO.

Cheatski have 23 attackers, so I think we'll get absolutely shafted on Thursday, and not in a good way.

Just don't want to see 3 at the back. It never works for us as it swiftly becomes a back 5. Bergwijn was ok at Brighton but just can't score so would leave him out on Thursday and bring in Lamela to help the pressing preferably, if not Lucas. Must be worth starting Vinicius so that our formation doesn't change too much. Winks for Sissoko as well but suspect that without Kane's height for corners Jose will play Sissoko. Toby has rarely played 2 games in 4 days this season so probably Dier will come back in a formation something like this:

Lloris

Aurier Rodon Dier Davies

Winks Hojbjerg

Lamela Ndombele Son

Vinicius

3 at the back can work still but only ifs it’s a genuine 3, not a 5. Brighton was very much a 5. Sheffield was very much a 3

“He needs to recover his injury, he needs to be back in training and have a fresh start,” he said. “I had a good conversation with him yesterday. We spoke around [what Alli must do in order to play] and we found very common ground, let’s say.

“It’s an important period for the team and for him also. We need him. We need a good Dele Alli and we’re just waiting for him to be back to normality and training with the team. Of course, a conversation doesn’t make miracles or put a player in great form. But I believe the conversation was maybe the extra motivation he needed to be back as soon as possible and become available for the team. I believe that when he’s physically ready, he’ll be in a good place mentally to go for it.”

I'm not saying that he's playing on Thursday but I wouldn't take what Mourinho says as gospel either

Just funny how things have flipped on their head - we/Mourinho need Alli. When a few months ago, it was a different narrative. Mourinho is ultimately a pragmatist. And I do appreciate that about him. There is one aim - to win football matches. don't be offended by him, everything is aimed at winning. So let him get on with it. He'll be judged by how many games he gets us to win. The simplicity of this contract if you like, is refreshing.

Like the majority, can't see us getting anything from this game. A chance to capitalise and be 3 points ahead with a game in hand on them means we should be up for it more than usual, but after roostering up last season against them when we had the chance to pull level/or leapfrog them in the league, don't see a reason that it will be different tomorrow. Hope i have egg on my face but recent performances have drained alot of optimism from me.

And also having the right players. Reguilon and Doherty who's played that system for years are a world away from Davies and Sissoko who were a strange selection to say the least. Vital you have attacking ability in the wing-backs when playing that way.

100%. Both shockingly bad players with the ball
Look at Chelsea when they play it they use alonso. They will play it tomorrow if he plays the same set up as his last two games
