OMT *** Spurs vs Bin Dippers ***

The conceding of goals has been mostly down to basic errors by players. However, the lack of goals in the majority of games has been down to the tactical approach.
That part lays firmly on the manager. His only tactic seems to be to get it to Kane and Son and hope they can produce a bit of magic.
If they're not on their game we have no other source of goals.
Is that because he has set up to defend because the players we have need help defending
Yesterday we didn’t set up defensively (no sissoko) and were doing ok until we let in a shocker that changed the game

We sat back for the last 25 mins of the first half and let them onto us. Kane clearly injured so sub him! Bring on a forward/Bale to
keep the shape. The manager cannot help himself.

I think if you go through any Premiership club you will see similar incidents of "stupidity"...Emirates Marketing Project for starters. You've simply listed incidents over the last 5 years (forgetting some such as Eriksen/Verts as it doesn't fit the point you're looking to make).

Is Davies "stupid" for playing everyone onside in that first-half goal incident? Is Kane stupid for not stopping Henderson? Lloris, a World Cup winner, "stupid"?

Aurier has been Aurier since the get-go.

I think the most "stupid" thing about our club right now is that in the battle of wills, we continue to not play to our strengths, instead being bent time and time again to the only system our manager knows despite evidence that tells you our best form of defence remains being more positive as a team. "Stupid"? I think that is pretty stupid, or if not stupid (as I think it is actually stupid to call these players and managers "stupid" even though we all do from time to time) stubborn and one dimensional.

Again, mistakes are often born of fear at this level if repeated. Because if they aren't -if the mistakes are down to stupidity- then only a stupid person continues to trust stupid people.
Lloris World Cup winner... you see his mistake in that final mate? Shockingly bad
Eriksen/Verts? I don’t know what they did TBH. I do know the rumours if that’s what you mean but their rumours so I don’t care to comment on them as facts
Davies is Davies, an average premier league left back. He did keep him onside but it was tight but we could have dealt with it if Hugo or Dier took charge. Instead they both absconded responsibility
City’s stupid players actually generally aren’t starters now are they? I mean it’s mainly the two full backs is who they have kinda replaced with adequate players of the right mind set

Of they just attacked more as they won more ball in midfield
I mean where we played them at their ground we set up defensive. We sat back and didn’t leave out half did we until we scored. That was a defensive set up
Yesterday we were set up like we did vs Sheffield united when we attacked, expect of course pool are better than them and we were missing our best kept sided player

Kane’s second whack was on 34 minutes I believe
He was probably waiting to see how bad it was as Kane wanted to play on and did. He created a chance as soon as he was back on
I thought it was sensible to give him a chance as he is that good a player

They outnumbered us in midfield. And missing Reguillon doesn't mitigate that. We were set up by the manager. And if you want to give him a pass, marvelous and enjoy.

I don’t
But your hatred of him clearly means he is being singled out as the failure rather than some of the players
As I’ve shown above look at the results in poch tail end, remember the games and think about the players who roostered up in those games
It’s not new even though the manager is

I wouldn't entirely disagree after the first, but after the second -when clear that he was a passenger and we were deeper and deeper, outnumbered in midfield and with 10 men, perhaps decisions need to be made.

400% agree.

I seriously urge people to read the F365 link i sent above (no i dont work for them), but so many important points made like this:

Tottenham have been outshot in every home Premier League game they have played against current top-half opposition so far this season. In total, they have managed 40 shots against Everton, West Ham, Emirates Marketing Project, Arsenal, Leicester and Liverpool, allowing 92.

I'm a big believer in stats and they certainly tell a story but devil is in the detail with this particular one...

Of the top half sides we've played at home - Man C, Liverpool, Leicester, Everton, Woolwich, West Ham.......we were ahead within the first 15 minutes in 3 of these games (Man C, Woolwich, West Ham) so it stands to reason that we would, from that point on, have less shots at goal. Defending well can mean different things to different people - inviting shots from low percentage positions is usually very smart defending. Even 'entries into the final third' can create an alarming stat at face value but done in a controlled manner - as we did against Woolwich and I'd claim for 95% of first half yesterday can be effective.

The problem we have presently is that we are so reliant on a) our strikers converting chances and b) our defenders not making mistakes. In Nov these things were both happening. Now, the reverse is occurring and we experienced terrible luck with the Son offside call yesterday. The latter should not be considered the most significant factor but it certainly had a big impact.

As per my previous point....last night was another worrying instance of creating very little once going behind especially without Kane to produce something from nothing.

If only Jose had a back up striker. A proper up top target man who could put pressure on a midfielder and a novice playing CB.
And if only he had the power to sub a vital playa who just got a second injury in a few minutes.

The player has to make those class too
Maybe he is stupid?

I was told he was here because he was a winner who would give us winning mentality, did not require several seasons and had the pots to back it up.

Not only am I waiting for that, I have to now tolerate his boring fudging style too. Being the good hypocrite I am, no problem if we are winning and topping the table. But we're not. And at this point, he has lost more "big" games than he has won with his "way".

This is NOT what it said on the tin at checkout.

Has he really lost more big games?
I mean yesterday before the game (and we have played more big 6 sides now) we were third in that mini league
We also won the only cup semi he has been in
Yes, yet again we have lost to pool. I mean our historical record vs them is horrendous under many many managers

Guess why I’d like to see is a like for like table compared to last seasons results

Interested in your thoughts on the Ndombele/Guardian piece mate. I think it nailed a greater issue.

I think it’s highlights the opportunity we have with him and how good he is (I thought they couldn’t get near him yesterday)
But even a player as good as him needs a platform to play from
That platform yesterday crumbled

Twice last season against Chelski we had major opportunities to leapfrog, hit top 4 and put distance in. Lost both. Twice against Liverpool this season the same thing, lost them both. Again, I was told he won such games.

It crumbled with a stupid tactical/subs switch at HT:D:D:D
