LOL at the Boring tag and the media tagging it to Spain

The Boring tag is about the matches, the opponents more than Spain.

Is the media that stupid.

how can you say that, especially after watching spain yesterday?

Look at arsenal. They play exactly the same formation and tactics as they did last season, but without Nasri and Fabregas, they are not as good. Of course tactics are important, but Spain win because they have the best players not the best tactics.

its an interesting one, i wouldn't say that spain are boring, i'm not sure I have got my head around what they are yet, games they are involved are not exciting though, they constrict the opposition and control the ball so that the classic end to end blow for blow football that many (me included) prefer, the end result is predictable

they are obviously brilliant and should be hailed so, but there is something about them that is unsatisfying, its almost robotic at times, they have eliminated the human aspect of the game, they are a perfect team, no one player stands out as being more important than any other, you can't fault this, but i'm not sure you can love it either

Gary Lineker @GaryLineker

The audience figures for Spain triumph; BBC1 13.4. ITV 2.3m. Thanks all for your support!

How the hell did ITV get that many? I can't think of any possible reason to watch ITV over BBC, they have brick commentators and advert breaks, whilst BBC are the world leaders (IMO) when it comes to sports broadcasting.

so Modric wasnt named in the Euro 2012 23 man best squad......and Gerrard was, shows again Spurs fans raving alone in the dark about the merits of Modric

Euro 2012 team of the tournament in full: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Iker Casillas (Spain), Manuel Neuer (Germany), Gerard Pique (Spain), Fabio Coentrao (Portugal), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Pepe (Portugal), Sergio Ramos (Spain), Jordi Alba (Spain), Daniele De Rossi (Italy), Steven Gerrard (England), Xavi (Spain), Andres Iniesta (Spain), Sami Khedira (Germany), Sergio Busquets (Spain), Mesut Ozil (Germany), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Xabi Alonso (Spain), Mario Balotelli (Italy), Cesc Fabregas (Spain), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden), David Silva (Spain).

Why wouldn't Gerrard? 3 assists, brilliant performances and our best player? I mean, Mandzukic wasn't even in the 23 and he was joint top scorer.. Only reason I can think of Modric not being there is the fact Croatia didnt make it out of the groups.

Ibrahimovic is there

Spain are dull because they are too good, games are too one-sided. The Semi against Portugal was quite good but I hate the idea that once you get to 2-0 you pass it sideways until and opening presents itself, which may be 20 minutes later, meanwhile keeping the ball for as long as possible. If it wasn't for the early goal yesterday the match would have been the same as all other Spain matches, a boring 1-0 or 2-0 affair.

Sure they play good football but I find countless other teams more entertaining and have done for years. Barca are similar except they have Messi who can provide that breathtaking class that no-one else can, something a bit different. Spain don't have a Messi, they play more as a team and as a result are even more methodical in their approach to unpicking defences. It's boring.

I watched BBC, but I don't think it's as clear cut a decision as it was a few years ago. I loathe listening to Hansen, Shearer, Lawro - heard it all before, on and on, same brick every game. Lineker is no presenter when compared to the likes of Des Lynam and the commentators are heading the way of ITV anyway, Mowbray employs the same waffle on endlessly technique that the cretinous Clive Tyldesley and the other one do on ITV, there's no new Motty or Barry Davies amongst their ranks.

BBC's real saving grace is no Adrian Chiles.

arsenal got 3rd with players that arent considered household names, they get third with speculative purchases that the best team pass on, they are consistently in the CL and they are consistently threatening to every team that plays against them. without cesc and nasri they had THE SAME points tally as the year prior. 66 this year compared to 67 the year before

spain have the most technical players for sure but that isnt the real reason they won this thing. the tactics which included the highline, the congested middle, the roaming front line, the overlapping full backs, the 'sweeper keeper' lol , the lack of a CF to mimic the barca formation / tactics , playing wide players on their opposite sides (excluding navas and intention to inject pace), the decision to occupy spaces in the front channels / lanes or the back channels / passing lanes depending on the tempo they want to employ (i.e attack or nullify another teams tempo)....etc etc etc. and all this is just stuff that someone's eyes catches on TV let alone the intricate detail players must be fed in order to get a game plan going to win the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

look at the germany v Italy games...tactics won that game for italy that day despite germany having the more talented , exciting, younger and more dynamic team.

i agree that the team with the best players won the tournament but they won that cause of attention to detail and tactics primarily. if you sent all those guys out there with no coach or game plan i am almost certain they wouldnt win

Disagree. They would win even if they didn't had the best tactics.

Redknapp got us 4th despite him being a poor tactician if you listen to most fans/journalists.

The overall standard of the premier league has dipped in the last couple of years, Arsenal are not as good as they used to be you cannot argue that, for christ sake they lost 8-2 to Man United!!

United are not the same team without Ronaldo.

Bottom line, tactics are important and teams can go on a good run with some solid tactics, but in the end, the best teams win leagues.

He was by far the best player the champions faced, almost sent them out of the group stage, Iniesta asked for his shirt.
If Croatia had been in England's group, in stead of against the two finalists, they'd have an easy stroll to the knockout phases -
then perhaps he'd be a bigger profile of the tournament.

Pirlo in the first game was the best player Spain faced.

But Modric was also brilliant against Spain.

I know quite a lot of people who tuned in to BBC for the punditry and switched over to ITV to watch the game, thus avoiding Adrian Chiles and Mark Lawrenson so that's a win win!

I can't stand Clive Tylesdley and the way he says "another" like it's his friggin catchphrase or something!!!

ITV give you about 2 minutes of analysis before and after the game followed by a 7 minute advert break, then repeat the process until the end of the programme.

agree to disagree.

i think the idea that a man that has been coaching for over 30 years doesnt pay close attention to tactics in some form another is wrong too
