Jose Mourinho - SACKED

Just by way of talking abut the need for time...
Jose has 35 points in 22 league games
Ole once confirmed as manager had 25 in 22 league games
Ole has been backed massively to the time of £200m ish and it shows
He also has been given a bit of time and it all shows
We will not be giving Jose £200m this window I’m sure but it’s worth looking at a comparison I believe
And it doesn’t excuse the turgid football

The instant fix was backing the players over the manager - the way this season has played out has shown, unquestionably, that the problem is the players.

Don't make me laugh referencing Mourinhos trophy haul - as asked previously what are the transferable skills managing a rich club with expensive experienced players and managing a club that needs a complete rebuild with a smaller budget than several of it's domestic rivals?
When we appointed him I don’t believe we expected the pandemic to kick in and wipe out the money we anticipated giving him

Different player in same area gets that space by the nature of how that passage played out...the result might have been different but regardless of the outcome they had a golden opportunity. We had zilch and that is a HUGE worry.

We are making really poor teams look comparative.

That chance was no more likely to lead to a goal than the Davies or Winks shots from the edge of the box.

Ideally you don’t concede a chance from anywhere at all ever obviously.

We also sold our only creator from the midfield to Inter ( although he’d downed tools) United have brought one in Fernandes. He looks far superior to Lo Celso. United have also used their academy players well.

Surely we’ve got some gems in there.

Ole gave them a chance in the Europa didn’t he
And yep he signed another player with the £m that they spent
Same as I’m sure we would have tried this summer if we hadn’t lost so much £
Now I haven’t a clue what out money position is

It interesting.cause every time.He speaks he says the right things and seems as tinkled off as we are about what the players are serving up.

With all due respect, I think you’ve missed the point of my post! You seem to have completely ignored what our spending was like before the stadium announcement, and what our spending has been this season (now the stadium’s been built).

That's fine, not everyone has to agree, but as i said taking numbers arbitrarily doesn't work. You've taken a 20 year period without any inflation adjustment.

Around 2008, the record British Transfer fee was £34m for Torres to Chelsea. 10 years later it was around triple that at £94m for Pogba. So taking these numbers and comparing like for like completely discounts the time value of money.

I agree 400% but he don’t get a free hit, because we sacked someone and didn’t allow them a free hit either.

Fair point. Poch is gone, wanted him to stay but it is what it is.

I was massively against getting Jose in, think he’s washed up compared to his earlier years. His football at Man U,and this was a point generally shared by their fans, was awful to watch.

But having a third manager in less than a year for this group of players will create more instability.
Also how much will it cost to pay him off? We can ill afford this at the mo.

let’s see the window through, his plan and hope he can get ndombele playing because this guy will be worth every penny we paid for him.

We should have let Eriksen go after Champs league final and re invested .Writing was on the wall for him . Think a lot of problems have come from the top of the club. It’s a vicious circle. We have a lovely new stadium and a brick team on the pitch. We’ve got a painful few seasons ahead. And we may never get back to the highs we were at.

People defend the period of no transfer activity but that was a massive error on clubs part for what ever reason . We are now paying for that with a seriously lacking squad. Yes Poch had a part to play in that but can’t help but feel Levy has a lot to answer to regards the playing side of things unpopular as that opinion can be.

The finance side will impact everyone to the same % variation, so any work in the summer will stack up against others in a relative way.

We might not sign as many as we wanted but neither will others for example.

Even those with rich third parties will have their income impacted to a level that their expenditure will be reeled in.

Jose is going to have to work outside the box and show he is worth his salary, that’s the long and short of it, that’s why we invested in not only him but a hugely expensive back room coaching team

I think we tried but nobody wanted him (Eriksen)

I don’t think he’s capable.
