Jose Mourinho - SACKED

Thats unfair. GLC is class, Sessegnon is one of the most highly rated English youngsters out there, Ndombele came with a massive reputation for his talent. Bergwijn was unknown but he’s been pretty good.

The problem for me is none of these players play in the positions that most needed bolstering (RB, LB, CB, DM). They aren’t bargain basement signings.
I know that. You know that.
But it appears that there's a view that we only buy cast-offs, cheapos or similar. Regardless of what actually happens.

Haha you’d think with the size of my head very little would go over it but that sailed right over my big noggin.

Sanctimonious lecturing gladly withdrawn.

The problem is that the manager who wanted those signings was given pretty much no time to work with them.

Bottom bit is a fair point. We needed a holding midfielder but spent 100m on 2 CM/ACMs. Both looked class at their previous clubs but there didn’t appear to be much of a targeted approach aligned to our needs.

It was so long ago I might be having a memory fail, but did it not look like Poch was trying to implement a diamond?

I wonder who his intended base was.

My definition of 'throwing under a bus' must be different to a lot of people's.

If you're paid to do a job and don't do it. It's your managers job to call you out. Unless Jose is abusive in his words I don't see the issue.

Also, if Poch called for a 'painful rebuild' and people are accepting of this, why is it that the rebuild should be any less painful under a new manager? Surely there should be an acceptance that if anything the rebuild would be more painful?

The talk before changing manager was that a rebuild wasn't needed and the problems we had was down to the manager not knowing how to pick/coach/motivate the players - posters who said we needed a rebuild were shot down on here and all across social media (and most of those who shot them down are suspiciously absent atm)

From what i can see the people who thought we needed a rebuild then know we still need a rebuild now but just think we have thev
wrong man for the job (and are pointing out that they were right in the first place)

We need rid of Mourinho, asap, not because he's a bad manager but because he isn't who you want overseeing a rebuild - especially a rebuild of a club who doesn't have the finances stacked in their favour.

It was easier sacking the manager than the player

It is why I can’t see a strength forward answer to our current turmoil.

hold course, trust what’s got us this far, scout well and sign undervalued players, get good performances on the pitch and move them on for a profit

Levy’s deal with the BoE protects the stadium repayment, that’ll fall into place when we can use it publicly again

we’ll be fine

Have no idea what the score will end up being but but from the Wolves v Arsenal first half it looks as though Arteta has got Arsenal playing better and far more quickly than Mourinho at our place.

Also I think that Mourinho wants Spurs to play a counter attacking game like Wolves. However our passing from back to front is a lot worse than Wolves’, who seem to play through the press much better and rarely have to resort to pumping it long like we do,

Totally agree. Not sure who the right manager is but he would be one that we think can hang around 5 years.

Someone who is properly prepared to integrate youth players into the first team. We need the next poch. Maybe the guy at RB Leipzig.

But to be honest i think we are going to stick with Mourinho for a couple of seasons. Tying our talented youth players onto long contracts and loaning them out is the best we can do

Easy thing to do and right thing to do are very different things
It’s also an easy thing to comment on things we ultimately know little about, no matter how much we like to think otherwise. Some seem to have forgotten how Poch was behaving in his final months, he massively hinted at leaving after the Champions League final and he looked completely burnt out and done by the time he was sacked - plenty on here said so. Painting Levy as the villain who just sacked Poch simply because of a poor run of form is lazy, Levy is far more calculating and long term thinking than that. If people here could see Poch was burnt out, Levy definitely could and as Poch couldn’t accept this himself Levy had to pull the trigger for the good of the club and Poch himself.....
