I thought Dele played well today.... him, Aurier, Dier and Winks were all fine. The rest substandard.

I think he should be a great player, he’s strong and fast, the rest can be taught, if he doesn’t make it as an elite level CB it’s because he hasn’t worked hard enough and/or had the right coaching.
 
The previous regime spunked a whole load of money on players who clearly aren’t good enough. We went for quantity over quality in I suppose the vain hope Poch could improve them. He couldn’t . And we are left with detrious.

I think we have lots of decent players. We just have some big gaps at the moment (defensive midfield, left back, centre forward and perhaps centre half). It's hard to win a top level football match when lacking in 3 or 4 positions.

Some of those are fine as squad players. We can’t have a 22 man squad full of players of GLC and Kane’s standard.

I’d certainly get rid of Wanyama, Vertonghen and Rose.

Other leavers depend on who we bring in. We need 1-2 CBs, a RB and a back-up CF as a priority. It’s rare that we bring in more than 3-4 in a summer, so bringing in those positions I’ve mentioned is probably our lot

I agree we have lots of decent players but some huge gaps. I blame our recruitment policy over the last 4 years. We haven’t signed a star player since Son.

Amazed that anyone could doubt the need at centre back:

Vertonghen - finished and leaving
Toby - past his best
Sanchez - at his best, he's decent but the last 18 months he's been poor and is awful on the ball. As I've said elsewhere, reminds me a lot of Anthony Gardner
Tanganga - lot of potential, but raw
Foyth - shown to be error prone, and barely played under Mourinho

I think we either need 1 CB this summer and then another next summer, or 2 CBs this summer

I broadly agree with that, though would add Ndombele too. That gives you 16 players, and Clarke will join as a squad player so 17.

Add another CF, 1-2 CBs and an RB and you more or less have a squad. Probably need a more reliable back-up for Lloris as well
 
Just in terms of a clear out, before you even start to strengthen the side, I reckon I could rock up tomorrow and sell or release the following 9 players - with a 0-5% impact at most, in terms of being missed:-

I wouldnt be too far off that. However Moura is a perfectly fine squad player, and Davies isn't high enough priority to be updated in my mind. To me a pair of CBs, another CF and a RB are more urgent and probably a back-up for Lloris too. I dont see us doing more business than that in 1 summer...and even if you manage to get the back-up CF and keeper on the cheap, 2 CBs and a RB are at least £100m. Maybe we could get that Man U keeper on a free and then sign a CF for £20m so its £120m all in...its still more than I would expect us to spend in 1 summer.

Whatever order its done in though, we need to have a higher success rate than recent years
