One game that i remember that I feel may have gone under the radar, and was damning of his ability, was the denmark v croatia last 16 match in the last world cup. Though it ended up 0-0 and went to pens-i thought it was the most engaging match of the last 16- thanks in part to Gary Neville's rare appearance as a co- commentator on terrestrial telly- but aside from that enlightenment, Eriksen was shocking in it and the whole world would have seen it, no doubt madrid et al.

I tend to not use Hazard as a barometer for Eriksen. I use Iniesta, Van see Vaart, Sneijder and Modric. Would I want Eriksen in my team ahead of those four? The honest answer is no. He is a good player with solid attributes and has been a key part of the Spurs over achieving squad for the past 5 years. Key gripe - set pieces. For someone who I have seen play for Denmark and Ajax as well. The setpieces performance at Spurs is bizarre. The showing up in big games - I can recall some e.g. Chelsea where he set up Dele. He will thrive in a system where he is not the main guy.

People are not booing him because he is leaving, they are booing because of his gutless efforts. There is a difference. Not that I would boo him.

Yup, perhaps if Eriksen had put in a MotM performance during Champions League final (like Hazard did in Europa) then he’d have secured his dream move but sadly he failed his audition on the biggest stage of all.
 
The way this forum views that CL game is interesting. Liverpool are the best team in the world. They were approaching that status then. I don’t think it’s at all surprising we lost to them and don’t blame the players much either. It is hard to break down a relegation struggling defence in the Prem so when a team of Liverpool’s calibre did it, it was always going to be difficult. We all wanted to win that final desperately but players don’t have magic wands, can’t suddenly turn on their top form or best play on demand. The better team won and played very astutely. The worst thing about that final was the handball and the inconsistency of that rule. This season I don’t think it would be given as there have been countless similar incidents which haven’t been penalised with penalties.

Yeah I don't believe anyone didn't try their best in that final. Both sides were pretty ordinary and aside from Winks and Rose, I can't remember anyone who played anywhere near their ability (although I wouldn't have been watching their players too closely).

The hurt from that game is that at times under Poch, we were frightening. Solid at the back, dominant in midfield and lightning quick in attack. Relentless pressing. True, it had been gone for a year by the time the final rolled around. Logically, it was always going to be difficult to turn it back on. But we all hoped that the team would turn up and look like Poch's Tottenham for the biggest game in our history. One 90 minutes. Go out and bust a gut, leave everything out there and give your legacy the trophy it deserves. And the players and manager collectively failed as badly as they could because we didn't play at all. I don't believe it was lack of effort or anything - just one of those things that had built up over a year.

That's what stings most of all. In the pit of my stomach, I feel sick whenever I think of that game because I know that if Poch's Tottenham had turned up, we'd be European champions right now. And that hurt won't go away no matter how illogical it is.
 
I think it’s an interesting move for Eriksen. With Conte there and Inter’s money I think he has a decent shot at a taking a league title from Juve over the next 3-4 years. Obviously not the move he wanted but can see why he is taking it as it has become toxic for him here and they have a better chance at a trophy. I don’t think ill of him and wish him the best, a fine player when he’s on it..... Mostly I am hugely relieved the saga seems to be over, a weight lifted and hopefully will make us more cohesive from now on.

I didn’t see it as two ordinary sides. It was just two tactically drilled sides and when there’s no space, there’s no momentum or energy.

I disagree but you could he right. I saw it as us reverting to the type of lethargic football that we'd played for 6-12 months. Liverpool, to me, really only have one way of playing and it's relentless. To me, they were nervous on the night which is why I think if they don't get the early pen or we put them under pressure, they'd have bottled it. They had form.

Sadly it looks like that win has given them belief and they've used it as a massive springboard to mind boggling form.

Yup, those fine margins which separate serial winners from also-rans... like how we finished 3rd in a 2 horse race back in 2015/16 after that calamitous run of form following the soul destroying draw at home to WBA.

Pochettino then offloaded the bottle-jobs and Wanyama came in to strengthened our midfield as we achieved a club record points haul but sadly Chavski’s Europeless campaign allowed them to go on a 13 match winning streak during the autumn, whilst we were busy negotiating the Europa League group stage.

So close and yet so sexy :(
