Think we'd be mad not to get Allegri, unless he doesn't want to come to us. It would be like getting Lloris, because no bigger team wanted a keeper at that time.
You look at all the top managers, and they are winners from the off; Ferguson at St Mirren/Aberdeen, Mourinho at Porto, Conte at Bari, Wenger at Monaco, Benitez at Valencia, Guardiola at Barcelona B, Simeone at Estudiantes La Plata. For that reason I don't want Howe, I'd rather Chris Wilder. Nagelsmann could be a winner, but too early to tell?

You remind me of another poster that was on Spurs Od advocating Pulis as manager.
Perhaps you're right about Wilder however, he will never take over at Spurs and rightly so.

Wilder has been excellent at Sheff Utd, and you do a great disservice to him in comparing him to Pulis. He is a far better (and more interesting) manager.

I think most managers who might look at our job would see a club that massively over-achieved, got to a CL Final and are within 6 months dumping on one of the best managers out there, complete with "fans" waving their pitchforks. Even if Wilder was the answer, I can guarantee you he'd scoff at this question. It is the hottest of hot seats, and it will take a very brave/very big arse to sit on it.

Pulis has also done a decent job at a few clubs. His style is very different of course and certainly not for Spurs, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been good for other clubs who don’t mind that sort of thing.

If I was a real top manager I’d have some misgivings absolutely.... top 3/4 and trophies expectation on 6th highest budget won’t appeal to too many. The next level down though will be happy to receive the doubling or tripling of salary.

Blegh. I'll give him credit for his league win with Milan for eeking out a win with the end of that squad but still Milan were a side that had in recent years won the CL and had winners throughout the side. That's nothing like the Spurs job presently. His time at Juve is irrelevant he took over an already entirely dominant Juventus side. So he took over two sides used to winning one already completely dominant the other not so much but a side used to winning the big competitions and moments. He's not exactly Ferguson at At Mirren or Simeone at Estudiantes. I think Poch could win the league with Juventus, I absolutely expect that he would have.

Don’t agree with this at all, Steff. I think Mourinho or Allegri (or almost every top manager) would jump at the job. We are a big club with some outstanding players; we have an incredible ground and training facilities; and we have successfully made the move into the tier of clubs just below the absolute elite. Guys like Mourinho and Allegri will be full of confidence that they have the ability to take us to that final stage.
They certainly won’t give a single toss about ‘fans waving pitchforks’. They’ll know only too well that, in the words of Poch, “This is football” - and it’s the way it ends for at least 95% of managers.
