That’s the first thing that entered my head reading it, if this is true it means he hasn’t learned a thing, I’m off to search the daily fudging mail now to find that article about the players being concerned he is looking for a way out.

Tottenham players fear manager Mauricio Pochettino is looking for a way out of the north London club.


Sources have told Sportsmail that the Argentine has become noticeably distant at the club's training centre since returning this summer.

After Tuesday's humiliating 7-2 defeat by Bayern Munich — the first time the club have ever conceded seven at home — Pochettino stressed the importance for the club to stick together. However, his mood has led players to feel their manager is having doubts over his future.


Pochettino has a good relationship with most of his squad but sources indicated that the manager is less visible at training, even watching some sessions from indoors.

The 47-year-old led Spurs to the Champions League final last season. But some of the squad have noticed a change in their manager since returning from their summer break.

There is no danger of Pochettino losing his job despite the club's disappointing start to the season. Tottenham having to pay £32million to sack him is a key reason his job is safe — although the club could recoup that if he was poached by another club.


The turmoil engulfing the club took a bizarre twist on Wednesday when Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen used social media to deny rumours that Vertonghen had an affair with Eriksen's partner.

There is a degree of confusion from some players about some of Pochettino's tactical changes this season, while Sportsmail also understands there has been unease at his treatment of certain players.

Vertonghen, a highly influential squad member, Eriksen and Dele Alli have all been dropped at various points.

Again it could all be gonad*s from a journalists imagination but if it’s true he wants out Pochettino needs to grow a pair of balls and walk, if I go into work give no fudges don’t try and get rightly sacked there is not one part of me that expects to get a nice pay out of the next few years wages, he is already a multi millionaire his reputation is still high if he quits he walks into basically any jobs he wants with a guaranteed eight figure salary.

I think there is probably merit in the first part of your post especially and as much as I've gone off Poch, I could understand that. What he achieved in those two years in very difficult circumstances was breathtaking.

But, sadly, he's lost it and I'm not sure how this ends. I know he'll go but I'm not sure Levy will tinkle away 32m and I wouldn't blame Poch for not walking away from it either.

It is only a theory, but fits better than others Ive seen of him just giving up/angling for a move away/not wanting to be here...

It seems more like him, IMO. He is fudged, but even so is trying to push on.

How it ends? Unless things change rapidly and drastically itll only end badly.

The only real question for me is whether its a slow death by a thousand cuts or something more immediate and severe.

Im really not sure I buy the £32m thing. Thats media maths imo, contract x length = number, without any consideration for break/dissmissal clauses etc.

Do you think Levy is a man to not consider compensation packages when signing someone to a massive long term deal?

And, really, I DO think Poch would walk away from it. I believe he is a man of real integrity, and if he reached a point where he was just done - then he would go, no hang around waiting for a pay out.

I agree with the first part. Not the second. For me, players making their thoughts public don’t help. I think Sissoko has been done over by the media somewhere though, as he is not one to do this usually.

I can’t fully recall the ins and outs - but didn’t Sissoko publish a come and get me love letter to Arsenal when at Saudi Sportswashing Machine?

I believe Sissoko did make eyes at Arsenal. Generally his time at Saudi Sportswashing Machine he was hardly the star pupil as I understand it.

But Pochs comments, I believe, pre date Sissokos. Im pretty sure Pochs were a couple of days before, where Sissokos were to the French media Tuesday night (though stand to be corrected).

And in defence of Sissoko, it reads to me like an honest answer to a question, not one loaded with malicious intent. Naive perhaps, but not with the idea to aggrivate, IMO.

All I can judge the player on is how he managed to weather the filthiest of storms to have a great impact on our side. He has character that’s for sure. I think he was semi-sold out by the media, but also think he needs to be a bit smarter.

All the tumult right now revolves around the players Poch wanted out (save Eriksen who he wanted in until he knew Eriksen wanted out.
I will personally never ever forgive Eriksen, but that is just me.

I agree, which is why I couldnt believe people were calling for Dier to play in there instead of Winks. Lil Harry hasnt been playing as well as he can recently, but at least he is mobile enough

For me, the biggest question is if Poch wants it and can deal with the fractions and hysteria.
1) he clearly needs to ditch the diamond for now if he insists on playing with Winks (who I think is a fine player BTW).
2) he clearly needs to reinvigorate training
3) he clearly needs to decide what energy and image he is going to carry and project right now, and it needs to be right.
4) he is absolutely right when he praises our first 30-35 minutes on Tuesday; whatever anyone here says, it was very good.
And had our finishing been close to Bayern’s for clinicalism, we’d have been absolutely fine...but...
5) he clearly needs new FBs. Rose gives it his all bit his legs are not quite there. Aurier? The player in there has no interest showing up for us so off he goes. I don’t want to see him in out shirt again. He was a disgrace on Tuesday as he simply downed tools.
6) he needs to accept that Moura can only be effective through the middle.
7) he has an issue with Dele, who sadly appears to be increasingly distracted off the pitch. Despite that, I thought he was very good Tuesday, he just sadly lacked match fitness.
8) the truth is if we can beat Brighton and Belgrade, we will be OK.

This is a corridor of uncertainty for sure. But I want Poch to have the chance to turn it around AND have a chance to build MkII. Whether HE wants it remains to be seen. I hope he does and am choosing to trust he does...

In fairness, Dier would sit more. Sissoko’s role in that diamond is more dynamic. But again, I agree with those who have been saying the diamond with these players is not working.

Sessegnon, Foyth, LoCelso, Ndombele, KWP and Dele all lost to injury for varying amounts of significant time.

He has not had the players fit to figure it out.
Add the general flimflam and indecision of Eriksen into the mix, and none of this is a massive surprise.

And even so he should have the ethic right. The intentions. The plan of how to play, how to set up etc.

Those excuses are bumps in the road, not a reason for how we are today - which appears to be utterly clueless and devoid of anything resembling a plan.

Its like Poch is a new manager, who has stepped up out of his depth and is caught like a rabbit in the headlights.

Except he is not, he is an excellent manager who has already proven he has all the things we are currently lacking.

Thats the bit I cant reconcile.

Wont argue that circumstances have been anything but ideal. But isnt the whole point of being a top coach that you out think opponents with your superior tactics? Despite all of this we have fielded some damn good teams, and for the first time I can think of we've had some really strong options off the bench so things havent been that bad. Ideal? Not at all. But easily has enough tools to do a lot better, and he has created more issues than necessary by persisting with the diamond....

I look back at our games this season, and there is a familiar pattern.

Arse away - brain fart allows them in on stroke of HT
Pana away - brain fart allows them in on stroke of HT
Leicester away - switch off after VAR allows them back into the match
Saudi Sportswashing Machine - switch off allows them to steal a win
Bayern - numerous switch offs and brain farts allow them in
Soton home - Lloris goes all Jean Michel Jarre and concocts a most gorgeous and pathetic gaffe; does not cost us.

Most of the goals we have let in have been because of stupid play/individual mistakes to my eye.

I’m really not sure any of these will make the diamond work, happy to be proved wrong.

The issue of the squad still goes back to not signing anyone last season.

Which is why I would have signed Fernandes with next year in mind.
