its a role that works on the continent and in time it will be accepted in British football. A young foreign manager like AVB most certainly wont mind working with a sporting director/DoF

I can think of two reasons:
a) it fuels speculation that can lead to discontentment and that can lead to Redknapp getting the sack. The more fans that stir the pot, the better and what better way to upset fans than to tell them things that will incense them?
b) makes you feel important to your audience

I've seen dozens of dozens of mud slinging infractions in the last few weeks

They are ALL ignored

Hey I got into trouble because I dared to venture an opinion (and I even used those words "I think" before I gave it). The mod called me clueless. Aberyid waded in like a good little follower and insulted me personally and the mod? Did absolutely fudge all. AberYid now thinks he drove me away #-o It was actually the Mod that completely fudged me off.

It's ironic really. We moan about refs not being consistent and yet............

look, you've come in to a thread that people were posting in without any problems - jumped in on several conversations and started laying in to people and you're surprised you get a bit of abuse ?

you haven't been here a few days, in that time as far as i can see there haven't been any of the raging arguments you were often at the center of before, you've been back 5 minutes and it's all kicking off again - what does that tell you ?
