possible reason I can find is he was worried about defensive shape for inexperienced WBs, but he missed an instinctive trick IMO.

If Liverpool are not up in the first 25 mins(against good teams) they don't win, with or without Salah that's when their legs run out

I don't think Stephen is far off really. The first 25mins were mostly dominated by Liverpool. They had a few chances but nothing clear cut. They certainly looked the most likely to score. The Madrid play was slow and laboured. That all changed with the Salah injury. Liverpool visible wilted and the geggen press disappeared. And then Modric took over, the little magician, and the rest is history as they say. Glorious glorious history.

Well mostly they run around like kids on too much sugar for about 65mins and then they need to have a nap. The sight of Salah being subbed took the wind out of their sails IMO
