FA Cup Semi Final OMT ***Tottenham Hotspur FC v Manchester United***

I think I am normally very optimistic about the team, overly so perhaps. But I think today, watching the 2nd half -- and added to all the other semi-finals/finals/games where we could go top of the league/games where we could really exert pressure on the top of the league, all games we lost/drew/got a bad result -- I feel like we're not gonna win a thing with this team. This is as good as it gets, we can be the best team in the country in the "in between" games, that is games against anyone and everyone where nothing major is really on the line that day. But we have something missing, either these players or the coach or both. Poch seems to get stage fright in these games and makes weird decisions imo. The players don't seem to cope with adversity in these games, nobody gets a hold of things and arrests a decline.

We were so passive in the 2nd half. Utd did an excellent defensive job after the opening 30 minutes or so and we didn't have much of an answer. De Gea had such an easy 45 minutes in the 2nd half. We know how good our players can be, but in these games they never are, or not enough of them are anyway.

IMO, today is the beginning of the end for this group. I have been so positive about these players and this coach and they have been very consistent and played some excellent football. But they don't have what it takes (and I don't know exactly what that is) to go and win games that really matter.

Pretty much spot on. Although I wasn’t that upset by the result (I never really believed we’d turn a Jose team over in a semi-final which, I suppose, is pretty telling in itself) this does feel like a defining loss for this group - and, perhaps, more for a manager who we all love but who doesn’t seem to be able to motivate his teams to do the business, or get his tactics right, when it REALLY matters.

Was that your view after 20 mins?

No but the fact we left them back into the game and then didn’t have a clue how to do the same says that they had both the know how and the desire to recover from a set back and we didn’t.

Same thing happened with Juventus. This isn’t me claiming the players don’t give a brick. It’s the fact that we have a fatal flaw in our mental make up that kills us in these games. We look leggy and out of energy. And that’s down to mentality and bottle.

Indeed -- where I differ is that I definitely over-rate our team and I under-rate Utd (I've slagged them off all season!)

I still feel loyal to Poch, he's done a fantastic job. I just hope he can fix whatever it is we are missing. The players have been in enough of these type of games now, but it all seems to go the same way regardless of the experience they have gained. So I think, for this group, they have gone as far as they can. And to be honest, I don't know what the solution is.

Whatever the cause was, we need to grind out enough points for a top 4 finish and then need some transfer activity this summer to make everyone believe that we can progress from here

Out of interest? Who would you be looking to upgrade? Or should I say, what position would you strengthen?

Think we needed more experience in defence we looked a bit naive there. If we do sign another defender in the summer I think it has to be an experienced one.

On the plus side, at least we won't get torn a new ar5ehole by City in the community shield!

Argh -- phuck, that 2nd half has left me feeling lost.

It doesn’t help that he’s already said that he doesn’t see it as an important trophy (or something similar). So is he going to be as bothered as us?

Today is the perfect example why I'm not overly optimistic before games like this. We simply do not have what it takes to be champions. It was so obvious we would lose.
I'm not even disappointed, because I knew what would happen, and it panned out exactly how I predicted.
8 in a row, it's not bad luck.

After they scored i was concerned but i thought i would wait to see how we came out second half, but it was obvious 4 minutes into the second half, just tinkled i had no money on it.

Millions of people go to football all over the world knowing their team will never win anything. So I am no different to them.

I sincerely hope you're right

Or look at it another way.
If your unable to get over today.
You may need to find a more enjoyable past time.......
We will not win every, some or even most of games over any given period.
Or do what so many do support a very rich team.
There will be ups like Real and downs like today.

Yep, it is a blow but Tottenham is about more then winning.

In fact I would put that on the new stadium, we are not here to win stuff.

Would show we had a sense of humour.

This evening feels bloody awful though...especially when you consider having to get back up enough to take up to 8 more points in the league
