Thought I would start a new transfer thread.

Think we should look to the free transfers or players with a year left on contracts, players from the championship as well.

My targets would be Lewis O'brien from Huddersfield as an all tackling midfielder in the Kevin Phillips mould but gettable.

Alex Scott tricky midfielder with great dribbling ability at Bristol City.

Spence from Middlesbrough (Nottingham Forest) full back decentish price.

Johnson from Nottingham Forest goal scoring winger inside forward.

Brereton Diaz from Blackburn only a year left on his contract would be a good understudy to Kane.

Would probably cost a bit now, but would love Livramento.

Good example of nominative determinism, at least.
And could lead to some creative chants/songs.

We will, most likely raid the italian Serie A for new players. There are some great out of contract players like Kessie, Romagnoli, Dybala, Brozovic. Even Belotti as Kane reserve. Any of them would be an improvement on what we have în their positions.

Agree but there is an awful lot from other countries too. Entering the last year aswell that clubs will want to cash in on.

Many players prefer now to wait until the contract ends, to get more money at signature. Clubs are willing to sell, players not willing to sign.

All of them would be very very good signings
Still thing our issue is exits
The good thing is that the two on loan we want rid have played well
But 2 or 3 freebies (they will have big signing on fees of course) can offset the bigger money we may wanna spend on wing backs for example

I don’t think we need an extra CM…. I’m saying that I’m expecting Sarr to come in and be amazing…
One signing I’d love is Szoboszlai who I think would be outstanding in a Conte side. He wouldn’t be cheap, probably £40m but his goal numbers and assists would be high in this team
I’d also like Maehle in for right wing back and Djed Spence has impressed me every game I’ve seen him play and would be home grown with a much lower fee
We need a left CB, and ideally one who can play central too. Romanoli does fit the bill and is a free. I’m not sure of anyone else but I’ll mentioned the lad from Monaco that I still haven’t seen Badiashielle.
I still think bellotti is the perfect forward back up too and again a freebie, but I’d also like Brereton from Blackburn especially as he is homegrown
Johnson in as back up keeper would really help the HG numbers and improve the squad too

I think Sarr has hardly played this year.

We could mop up some decent players from the 3 relegated teams in a few months. They will be used to the Prem and have proven themselves good in the Prem.
E.g. Sarr at Watford, Rafinha/Phillips at Leeds, Weghorst at Burnley, some Norwich twerp etc.

Like when Pool signed Robertson from Hull, Henderson from Sunderland, United signed Jones and Smalling from Blackburn and Fulham, loads of decent players have come from Soton etc.

Due to covid the last couple of years, clubs couldn't afford to renew contracts. Especially improved deals.

Many in europe are still in that position. It's why the number of players out of contracts or in the last year is unprecedented. By a huge percent.

Sarr is not going to be amazing, he barely plays for bottom half Metz. I would rather not risk that kind of money on players like Szoboszlai. Maehle is a decent player, better than what we have now. If Spencer is available for a smaller fee(under 10mil) then why not. Romagnoli and Belotti would be great and so would a HG back up keeper.

    Szoboszlai is outstanding IMO
Sarr isn’t getting the games as much because they sold him
They took him back on loan just like Leeds did with Clarke
But I was also being a bit sarcastic

Sarr has 13 starts and 7 sin appearances in the league so far. Not a bad total for a young player like him. If he'll be ready for us next season to make a real impact is of course a very different question.

According to Romano Brozovic is well on his way to signing a new contract with Inter.

I maintain that signing free transfer players could be really useful, but may already prove difficult for numerous reasons.
