Ok, so it only works when playing City, but that didn't stop us last year with the CL "City thought they'd won it...." number.

Can but hope that Ndombele has been working on his fitness during the break too.

He was on Windy's podcast a little while ago. He does some freelance work with some of our youngsters, as well as loads of other clubs. It is well worth a listen.

Thanks milo, an interesting article. I was pleased to read this bit "With all the tattoos, the muscular frame and the pedigree as a PSV winger, there have been the inevitable comparisons to Memphis Depay, who is now at Lyon. Yet they are different characters. Whereas Depay is extravagant, Bergwijn is quiet, softly spoken."

Amazing that he fell out with Ajax over a pair of boots. What a palaver.

Another good performance from him today I thought. Great to see him settle in quite quickly.

I really f*cking like that he's aware of the spaces around him, and that his first instinct is to either make a supporting run off the ball or (when he's on the ball) to get his head up and look for options.

He's not afraid to have a pop, but he seems to instinctively look for an assist first. And likewise, he can definitely dribble, but he had three occasions today where his first step when Alli and Son were on the ball was to swerve inside and then out again, taking Villa's center back (Hause first time, Engels second and third time) about six yards away from the middle, opening up space.

It's a contrast to Lucas and Son, who tend to drift towards the ball rather than towards the strategic spaces that they need to occupy to open up room for others. And it indicates that he's an intelligent footballer who's acclimatizing quickly.

I'm pumped about Bergwijn - it's very early days, but, like with Tanganga, everything I've seen from him has been positive.

Very encouraged by today. Wasn't so much against City despite the goal but today he was very good. Early days but the boy done well.

As a few people have said, early days, I will add

    - It means something to him, when his shot didn't come off you could see his reaction, great fun to see in a time when players often laugh off horrible plays

As was his first time cross for Dele's header in the first half. He's a technician with physical gifts which is an excellent combo.

He also had 2 or 3 first time volleys yesterday that were goal bound so striking a ball cleanly from the air is definitely in his locker and the City goal was not a fluke. On another day he's one yesterday maybe even two.

Again very please with him, just as I have been with every player we've purchased since the summer (Clarke excluded). The rebuild is looking very very promising.

I love that he seems to have adjusted to the league immediately. And I still think we will see more from him in future. He’s full of confidence, has good vision, plays direct attacking and knows when to pass the ball and when to go with it. Think he’s a bargain for £25m.,
