Spurs & Covid

Jose really laying it on thick with Reguilon which I don't blame him for. Reguilon will be keen to produce when he gets back in I'd imagine. However, Davies has the shirt at the moment. He's done well the last couple of games and seems to be a consummate pro.

Seeings as Moura and Vinicius are back in the squad having been out of action after the Ganriel party layoff it'll be interesting to see how differently the latino trio get treated to the Portuguese speakers...

David Cameron, is that you?

Completely putting aside the public safety issues with this, the complete disregard for the rules and regulations, what would you say if this resulted in an outbreak at the club and we were unable to fulfil fixtures due to the actions of the three aforementioned players? Lo Celso and Lamela don’t have exactly have stellar records when it comes to fitness and availability but they have now both tested positive (possibly as a result of this party) which makes them unavailable for even more games during a busy run of games for the club.

Football taking place regardless of its bubble flies in the face of whats happening in the real world if you are going to be hyper critical. Lo Celso, Lamela, Reggie meeting with Lanzini on a day off is not any different that what is asked of them on a match day when we deem it ok for 40 plus people to get together against what is deemed safe in society because it entertains us.

Protocols are broken but they are just there to pretend we care so much to have game go ahead in the first place but even if you take them into account all players were negative and the bubble was extended as it would have been on a match day.

I think if you are really really concerned about 100% safety of people and lives you are not supporting the idea of football happening at all, I wont contradict that by placing fake horror on what the game is doing two or three times a week anyway.

Games are going ahead I assume because the authorities have put measures and protocols in place to ensure they adhere to the government rules and guidelines. Plus the games are being played outside, as is training. The party was supposedly at Lanzini’s house, doesn’t look to be any social distancing taking place in the photo. There’s about 20 of them indoors which is against the rules.

Like indoor cricket, using the gym, coach travel up and down the country, flights using hotels etc? Are games played at a social distance or in masks? Trusting that the time they tested that it is accurate and players have not picked up the virus in between?

Point is the game being played smacks in the face of whats going on in the real world, if you are really going to be hyper critical. Maybe players believe their lives are being risked in the name of the game and decided to take the same calculated risk on their own terms aka everyone tested negative

End of the day my point is, I am not going to hammer them for a mistake when they are being asked to risk theirs and their family health for our entertainment regardless of protocols which are not 100% full proof.

Have they tested positive? I've only seen rumours so far.

My opinion will be entirely based on what did happen, not what might have happened.

If it hurts the club it's a problem, if it doesn't then it's not.

I just think its just typical of people being overly jumpy like most things in life, lets all jump up and down when you might have 4 players and family (who are classed as the bubble) together after a negative test on their own terms but then moan and ask for the Premier League to force Fulham to field a team because they have 14 players despite the club having a covid outbreak because the game not happening infringes on your own entertainment.

I dont really care about the made up protocols but there is no realistic or logical reason for me to make up some anger for them getting together for NYE when I think its ok for them to slavver over each other for 90 mins on match day for my entertainment.

Dont know if it has been officially confirmed but both weren’t in the squad today, lucky for us we were playing a team that employs suicidal tactics so neither player was needed. Then again they are both injured so bloody often how would we notice the difference.

Reggie wouldn't have been if they had

Lo Celsos injured so wouldn't have been included anyway.

Regardless the bar has been set with both Moura and Vinicius being brought straight back in after the Gabriel birthday party.

And Regulion today tbf on the bench

Both have been injured most of their time with us, agreed. Assuming a positive test is a bit of a leap.

Well we can debate whether football should be played during a pandemic and I’m not saying there aren’t problems with sport being permitted. You can make a compelling case for both sides. Ultimately I think it has been great for morale. Yes there have been some problems for sure with outbreaks of the virus sporadically across the football leagues but it’s been a life saver (figuratively speaking of course) as it gives you something to look forward to once or twice a week even if we aren’t great to watch these days :)

For better or worse, the government has sanctioned the return of sport. Meeting up with people not in your bubble in other people’s households is against the rules whether we like it or not. From my personal perspective, my partner lives in the midlands (I am in hertfordshire) so we had to sacrifice seeing each other from March-June as hard as that was because we wanted to adhere to the rules and not spread the virus. My personal situation aside, people all over the country are making sacrifices, not seeing loved ones etc. I don’t want to sound preachy as I’m sure most of us have bent/broken the rules during the pandemic even if it was negligible. Another anecdote from me; I was walking my dog once a day and also going for a run at the height of the pandemic so I was leaving the house twice a day sometimes. Technically not in the spirit of the rules but I was going out on my own, not meeting up with anyone, crossing the road to avoid people when it was possible and safe. To me that’s a bit different from having a mass gathering of people indoors where the virus is more likely to spread.

Not very smart of Lo Celso, Lamela and Reguilon. Thing is you can do whatever you want in private as long as no one knows it. So, it is really stupid to take photos and upload it !

Yes. Obviously you CAN do what you want in private so long as no one knows it, but the point is you SHOULDN'T if you actually respect your team mates/the country, etc.

If you ever wanted to wave the privilege flag, this is a fine opportunity. They are really clueless.
