How does the wife feel about her being made to watch the tournament?

Finally a bit of luck. Get back soon, Sonny. Sorry about the loss, but Spurs is way more important.

That's him back possibly a week early, ready for both Watford and Newcastle. Perfect.

Well that was well worth us getting knocked out the league cup for. A tournament where we had actually reached the semifinal as opposed to starting from point A.

So now he's returning home empty handed and leaving us empty handed also?

Hopefully we haven't paid him any wages for the time he's been gone?

Definitely good news, though I was tickled that Sanchez scored against Arsenal.

They're gonna be sucking sour plums 'round Islington.

Son felling the effects of too much football over the last month perhaps with the Christmas schedule and our injuries?

"I wasn't fully prepared," revealed Son, who played three matches in the United Arab Emirates after arriving before South Korea's final group-stage game with China.

"I felt physically empty. I feel so sorry to have let down my team-mates, coaches and the fans.

"I would rather not speak about it really but I haven't felt right physically. I was losing sleep - I should have looked after my condition better."

"I thought I would start to feel better and grow into the tournament but it just didn't happen," Son said.

"Many people expected big things of us and I'm annoyed at myself for not being able to step up. I know I didn't perform well."

No surprise, he played a LOT of Spurs games before jetting off; we definitely got the best of him.

I was going to say at Spurs it is different as he had better players around him but now he is going to have to be the main man until Kane and Alli are back...big ask but he was certainly showing the form before he went away.

A pleasant surprise to have him back early, considering he was the only proper footballer at the tournament I expected him to win it single handedly.

He looked jaded in the United and Chelsea game I thought.

He’s gunna have to suck it up for the team.

Not going to be in the squad today according to TalkBrick. Sensible if true.

Agree. I'd assume Poch would have planned for this game without Son anyway, so better that he gets a few days rest before Watford.

I think it’s more sensible that he gets the rest, and then comes back when he’s sharp and fit. Otherwise we risk him continuing to play at a lower level, or him suffering an injury. Best to get through these matches, and then have him back at full strength when he’s ready. We didn’t expect him back yet, so good opportunity to let him rest for a week or so.

    Next season
“On Sunday we were with him on the training ground in the morning,” boss Mauricio Pochettino said.

“He’s so tired, he played three games. Very tough games.

“Of course not too much energy on Sunday, but we hope he’ll be available and ready on Wednesday to help the team.”

Even without Kane and Dele, Son has again proved we can be effective when he is available.

9 goals in 18 league matches this season should not be sniffed at

    I love him.

He is so under rated by others in this league, I said a couple of years ago he was up there with Sanchez(then arsenal) and I got laughed at. Think he is similar level to Sane.

I love Son, would like to find another like him who can play with pace and score goals. Thought it might be Moura (who was good tonight) but I am not quite sure he is it.
