Sorry to be a pedant but blocked shots don't count as on target ;)

Problem is the more players that are available the less likely he'll get his chance.

And if his best position is the one he played on Saturday (it could well be).....there's even less chance of him playing if we go to back to lasy years 2 preferred formations.

You're correct. Right now we're a bit thin with injuries, so he will likely get his chance. Plus we will need rotation given the congested fixture list. And if he impresses, who knows.

December is looking like a clam of a month with fixtures, good for us watching but I hope the players are all fit and in good form.

My problem with Sissoko is fundamental technique and execution. He was more involved against Everton and looked better for it, but on numerous occasions failed to execute. One memorable example was laying the ball back to Harry in the pelanty area when a half decent 5 yard pass would have led to an effort on goal. He scuffed it and turned a good opportunity into a hospital ball. The offside on the breakaway was another occasion where he lost a goal scoring opportunity. We were not punished on this occasion but in a close game these lapses will cost us. When he has one of his more anonymous games (how many of the games in the rosy looking stat above are found in games where he started but was subbed off early?) the technical lapses are all the more damning. Forgetting his price tag, the current Spurs regime has the reasonable expectation of better technique and consistency than Sissoko has exhibited.

Agree fully. And one of the consequences of that has been his consistently disappointing end product even when he's been seen as playing well at Newcastle. The Everton game was just another example of that.

I think the touch issue is just confidence, he wouldn't have got this far if he didn't have supreme technical ability as a youngster

He used to have a similar touch at Newcastle too according to I think that I am a better football fan than the rest of you I work with

Really? That is ridiculous. If you shoot and a defender on the line blocks it, that sure as hell was on target.

Agree, no difference between that and a keeper blocking it...

The way Sissoko have been treated by some, so-called-fans, I´m surprised that even want to get near a football without being terrified.

    I dont disagree at all.

Steff made the point on confidence yesterday, which could make a huge difference.

Early appearances this season he has been annonymous - to the degree the players just passed around him as though he were a dummy in a training session.

And fundamentally he has been terrible. Movement, technique, vision, decision making - all awful.

    He looked shot.

Everton was a big step forward. They actually saw fit to pass to him, he actually seemed like part of the team (albeit the weak link) and was trying to contribute.

Im hoping this picks up his confidence more.

We all know a confident player can control a ball with ease, shoot/strike/pass cleanly, try more ambitious passes and moves...

Perhaps Sissoko has a little more in the tank to offer us?

I say perhaps because I genuinely dont know. I never paid a great deal of attention to him at Newcastle, though thought he looked like Frances best player the summer we bought him, so for me he is a total wildcard.

All that being said, he has been awful so far, was "meh" on Saturday, and Ive no idea if thats as good as it gets or not.

I guess Im just cursed with being a football fan, while he is here you always want to see the best outcome dont you?

The offside was completely on Kane. He delayed his cross needlessly. Maybe he doesn't trust him but still on that occasion that was not his fault

I thought that as well, kane plays that ball after even two touches and it's a good chance. But he delayed for so long it was always going to be offside.

Sissoko runs after the ball, not with it. In the middle of the park where there's room that's just so unpredictable it frightens defenders.
Sterlings the same, everytime they run with the ball I think that with their speed someone is going to look silly here. It's 50/50 wether it's them or the defender.

At the end of last season there were a couple of matches where you could clearly see the rest of the team avoiding giving the ball to him - Eriksen in particular.

I thought it had died down a bit this season but there were a couple of occasions at the weekend where he was the best option on (ignoring ability of the receiving player) but got completely ignored.

Well that's wrong imo, kane had nothing else on in that move. If sissoko fudge up from there and the other 9 players cant cover it then the problem isn't with sissoko alone.

Decisions don't come with hindsight. At the point at which Kane made that decision, the choice of holding the ball (knowing that he'd probably have to beat a couple of players) was probably a better one than giving it to Sissoko.

Our players ignore the best option to pass to on numerous occasions, but predictably its only an issue when Sissoko is the one being ignored....
