Mate, players play against their boyhood dreams because it's their job and they're professionals at the end of the day. jD is a gooner it's well documented that he is but he's played at Spurs for most of his career.

As to the average player comment, I don't think he is.

Oh well, not my money. More than happy to be proved wrong on this one. Not counting on it, though.

Off topic but, JD isn't an arsenal fan, his entire family either supports Chelsea or Arsenal so the pictures of him in the kit make a lot of sense.

I used to talk to a cousin of his a bit (worked in a company where a few members of my family have worked for years, so we met a fair few times) and (despite being a Chelsea fan himself) always said JD supports spurs. Although he did mention a few times that his favourite player was Ian Wright but, I'd guess that, that is again influenced by family.

Anyway, I've not seen too much of sissokho so I'm not sure what his strengths are aside from the immediately clear ones.

I think we needed another cm, does anyone know if he has experience playing there? (aside from the euros)

Or is it more a case of someone else pushed back to cover dembele's position in order for sissokho to push forward?

    Taken from the OS mate,

Another factor contributing to Moussa’s desire to join us was a certain Hugo Lloris. His captain at international level, the midfielder is thrilled he’s now able to call Hugo his skipper on the domestic scene too.

“He’s a good friend for me,” Moussa explained. “When we are with the national team we speak a lot, we laugh a lot. He’s a great player and when he spoke to me about this club he told me that it’s amazing and everything is here for me to play some good games and to fight with the best teams in England. Today I’m happy and he’s happy because we will play together in the Premier League.”

Moussa, while you wear the Lillywhite shirt you will have my support. Happy to have you on board and excited at the depth of options in our squad.

He was excellent in the Euros, and although his attitude can be questioned for his poor last season in Newcastle, he proved that he at least can put in more than decent shifts. If there's one thing Poch knows, it's getting people to put in the effort - so hopefully we'll see Sissoko playing well for us after a while. I really do hope we all back him out there though, and don't give him a hard time if he doesn't settle straight away (I can for instance picture some will be more akin to booing him for his Scum affliction), that's key, I think. So forget whatever Newcash fans have said about his attitude (thinking about the shambles that club have been in, you can understand it to a certain degree, I guess), and let him start from a clean slate.

He does have a lot of power and drive on a good day, which is just what we need, so I think he'll be a good addition to the squad eventually.

Exactly. We've really lacked that over the last year or so and especially in the first three games of this year. we have pace from our wingbacks but no pace and power in central areas. We'll get that from Sissoko and get pace from Nkoudou.

Also, our best performances last year where when we overpowered team in the middle through Dier, Dembele and Alli. Now we have Sissoko who can add to that and mean we don't have to be lightweight if Dembele is out

    Good signing, albeit expensive

Got mixed feeling about us signing Sissoko. Delighted that we bought a player who did well for France in Euro 2016. It is definitely better to sign someone than not signing anyone at all. It has instantly improved our squad depth in midfield. But then, can't help but worried about his inconsistent performances and lack of goals for Newcastle over the years. Hope Pochettino will get the best out of him and make him our creative midfielder that we badly lacked last season.

As I said last night he'll add power and directness to the midfield. I'm sure now he's not having to fight relegation battles every season and the quality of his team mates will be much higher he'll do well for us. Sure £30m is a big spend for this club, but in today's silly market a proven PL and current French international player is going to require that kind of spend.

I think we've done well this transfer window, we have a strong team with upgraded cover for each position now.

Some just like to bitch ( it makes them happy), seriously though i have said many times on here that no matter what Levy does there are some who will always have a dig at him. Thankfully they are in a SMALL minority.

Unfortunately it's a LOUD minority and I can't seem to find the off switch.

I won't deny that there are those that like to have a go at Levy, but to be fair the vast majority of negative posts in this thread are aimed squarely at Sissoko and are commenting on what we've got for our money.

I have just started a thread on why I think this window has been a landmark one for us, and this was something I speculated with regards to Sissoko!

Rumour has it that Poch told Levy that he wanted Sissoko regardless of cost and thats what Levy delivered.

For me thats the important thing, he has given the manager the backing he needs to do his job.

Then its up to Poch to deliver.

Right, but what you have to ask is why Nabil is no longer here?
I, like you, thought he was not only the future but a future Spurs skipper. So what went wrong? The truth is neither you or I will ever know. The manager does, and IF you trust him, then you have to trust him.
    I trust him.
I was bummed out to see Nabil go, but if you look at the money in for him and the money in for Chadli then it's a fair cop guv. Prices are out of whack everywhere. I am glad Levy backed him. Nabil ain't here anymore. Time to either back the manager or state that you don't mate.
