It really is amazing the tables the media will pull out with Liverpool on top.

In the real table, the table that matters we are third.if Liverpool, arsenal and man Utd are all behind us in that then does it not mean they are getting pumpef by diddy teams. Surely that's more worrying than losing at anfield, old Trafford and the bridge?

True... it just feels like a long time ago now that Redknapp broke the Anfield and Emirates hoodoos then Villas-Boas got our first PL era win at Old Trafford... as I know so many gobby fans of those clubs that it hurts far more when we drop points to them and we've yet to beat Liverpool (D3,L3) since Pochettino took charge.

I was at WHL for our 3-0 win over ManU last season and if we can have a repeat of that glorious day, along with a first NLD win in 2 years, on our way to another top 3 finish then I'll be chuffed to bits.

But right now I'm just naffed off with Bin Dippers!

We don't make things easy for our rivals at WHL (who was the last to win here? Poch's first season I'd imagine) but the flip side to that is that they don't make it easy for us - the top 6 takes each other very seriously these days and as the greenest team of them with less experienced big game players (and yes manager too) then I guess you can see why that away record is what it is - something we need to improve on but something I think will come with time

    Ottawa, actually.
Yeah, I'm not flat-out negative about that away record, because we hold our own at home. We'll struggle with that next season and 18/19 (due to home games not really being at a 'home' of our own next year, and then being at an entirely new, unfamiliar ground come 18/19)...but I don't think it's a long-term concern under Poch.

However, it is the reason we aren't pulling away from the rest of the pack. And, in terms of improvements we can expect, I hope that we'll at least climb a bit higher to 2nd in the 'home' table (posted by @SteveAWOL in the Liverpool OMT - we're third there, behind United and Chelsea) come the end of the season (and the last games against Arsenal and United at the Lane). If we're floundering away, that's fair enough, but we have to dominate at home to make up for it. And we're not doing that enough - we get our fair share of wins, but not so many that the top six write off their games at the Lane in a manner similar to how we write off games at Stamford Bridge (for example). A ten-man Arsenal side equalizing against us to make it 2-2 and then dominating our eleven with their ten for the final fifteen-odd minutes can never be allowed to happen at home the way it did in 2015/2016 (for example) - that sort of stuff is the true weakness, in my eyes.

Could someone prepare a table of the top 6 vs the other 14 teams in the league? I believe we have dropped far more points to team we should be winning than the top 6.

No, I meant home against the top six exclusively - we're third on that table, the one I referred to in my initial post.

FWIW, only Chelsea have dropped fewer points to bottom half teams than Spurs this season

    http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/2016-2017/versus-bottom-half

Theirs being the draws at Burnley and Swansea whilst ours have been draws at Bournemouth and Sunderland plus at home to Leicester.

We're the only 2 teams not to lose to a bottom half side thus far this season.

^^Thanks guys, I think we are being too harsh on Spurs. With the average levels of quality (compared to the bigger teams in Europe), we have been over-performing.

Our away form against our 5 rivals definitely needs improving. However at Home we have been a match for any of them. For sure Redknapp, AVB and Sherwood won on some big grounds, but none of them dominated those 5 teams at the Lane as we have under Poch.

When I say dominate I mean those top sides know when they come to the Lane that there is a good chance they will come away with nothing.

I don't put much stock in the occasional win at their grounds. I want to see us consistently better them on their home turf like Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea bettered their rivals when they won their titles.

This is part of the team's development, get the home form right first then tackle the away form. The latter requires more options off the bench to change the course of matches. Something we have not had this season. Once we can do this we will win the title.

My aim for this season is to get as close as possible to 80 points which represents real progress. It would be also be great to win a cup along the way.

Top teams come to the lane and park the bus, hoping to take home a point. We like nothing more than a team who comes to play, as it gives us room to take them apart. We should do the same away to the top six.

Grow up if you think there is an pro Liverpool/anti Spurs bias in the media.

Watch the full MNF piece this from. Both Carragher and Neville have a hard on for Poch's Tottenham.
They were disappointed by the performance.

But they did the exact same thing I did after the game, pointed out that Poch never wins away from home against the top 6 and that this is were we need to improve.
Straight away the natural counter to this is "surely the top 6 win their home games and Poch's 1 win from 15 isn't that unusual".
That is the moment when you need the table you are mocking above to show we have a worse top 6 away record than any of the rest of the top 6.

No one is saying beating the top 6 away is the be all and end all, just we have to improve our record here. We are not gonna win anything with 2 points from those 5 games a season.

Our away record in general this season is poor. 4 away wins in the league.
That's is a huge worry going into next year with no WHL.

Especially when you consider that most of our Top 6 rivals are able to splash out double what we do on the squad's wages, which is why Emirates Marketing Project can afford to have someone of the calibre of Aguero on the bench.

I don't need to grow up, I'm perfectly mature as I am thank you very much.

As the youngest team in the league, which they pointed out, but also the least expensively assembled squad out of the top six then it would be miraculous if this squad didn't have deficiencies.
If at this stage of their development that is the worst that can levelled at them than I'll take that.
How they react to that is going to determine how successful we become. They need to learn to hate losing these games.

They should have a hard on for spurs , on their day they are the best team in the league. I agree with everything they said about the performance on the day.
The table was probably from the producer and not carragher or Neville.

I think that you also need to bring the fuller context into this which is the fact that we have done better than the others with regards to how we deal with the teams in the bottom half of the table. That is why we are in the position that we are in i.e. top 3. Whilst there is some merit in breaking down the league into mini leagues, at the end of the day it is the full league that makes a difference. Beating the top teams away from home would be great in isolation but would be completely negated if we don't produce results against the bottom teams a la Liverpool.

What can be deduced is that we need more options from the bench to make us a better team. Making us a better team does not mean that we are not a good team. We are a good team and one that is punching well above its financial muscle. I absolutely agree with focusing on improvement, but not by ignoring or rubbishing other positive factors that our team has developed.

As for the media, it is obvious that there is still a bias for the "bigger" teams like Liverpool and Man United. Given the coverage that we have received after a defeat, you would have thought that Liverpool et al were above us. They're not.
