I dont still see the benefit for Spurs based on his wages. It is damn too high for kind of reward we get.

With the way the Madrid social media are posting about his and Wales involvement i could see him being back in Madrid for next season.

I think he’s retiring. Just a guess based on what he said about saying nothing till after the tournament has finished so as not to cause a stir.

Thought he was invisible tonight, did very little.

He was invisible until given an easy volley chance from a perfect Rodon header... what a chance to smash it at the goal from 12 yards, but he wazzed it over the bar.

My thoughts as well, he can still do good things against lesser sides but against the best he is mainly a passenger.

Am I the only one that enjoyed a smidge of schadenfreude yesterday at his grand plan to use us to get fit for the Euros falling flat relatively early on in the tournament?

I know I probably shouldn’t see it that way, but to me, it feels a bit galling seeing him hare around for Wales yet steadfastly refuse to do that for us to manage his fitness to peak at the Euros. Or at least that’s how it looked to me.

That’s not to say we / Jose couldn’t have used that motivation to our advantage better, but still…

Walking off at a legitimate question - bringing it on himself after his ‘chaos’ comment - also felt pretty petulant.

I was sad to see them/him go out, I think it was realistically as far they could have gone though, don’t think they went out early.

I think his output for us was pretty good for a 31 year old last season?

Yes, it was. I just felt he was playing within himself, or for himself, for much of the season.

As I say, this one’s on me, and he wasn’t managed well by Jose either, so I guess you can’t blame him for putting Wales first.

I hope we don’t spunk any more wages on him, he can score against the brick teams but against the half decent and big teams and in the big games he is invisible.

Yep, Wales used be disappointed in not qualifying, now they are disappointed in not getting through the first knock out round. That's got to be seen as a success for them, even with Bale.

Once he retires they'll be back to hoping to qualify every few tournaments for a generation.

I think if they had gone out to one of the bigger teams they would be alot more happier than what they are now. Obviously Denmark are a much better team than Wales but they are not the sort of name you are happy being knocked out by.

Based on that game, I think Denmark would beat us.

To be fair wales we're shockingly brick though. For me the result was more to do with wales' ineptitude than Denmark brilliance, although they did play well.

We are much better defensively than wales even with our limitations, and not just dependent on one player from an attacking perspective.

If we had a decent manager we'd probably have an OK tournament. As it is I think we'll struggle to beat ze germans.

You’d think he’ll give it one more season before retiring, what with his contract and a World Cup just a year away?

He should go to MLS. A few years in Miami playing golf would be very nice
