Really? Who are they? I can only think of three players coming over from Germany lately; Werner, Sancho and Havertz. All 3 were star players in Germany, and they hardly hit the ground running! Only Havertz has been able to slowly make his mark.

We have to sign him now. There can be no possible other choice.

Guess I was thinking of the Berbatov and Son track record we have. I suppose there have been quite a lot of more recent big flops now I think of it.

Sorry, that's what I meant. The pace and physicality of the German league is much closer to the EPL, whereas France is a bit pedestrian. So players who excel in France are less guaranteed to be able to translate it.

Pulisic and Haller big flops too.

Further back De Bruyne and Sane could go in the hits pile.

    Son was a flop
Luckily he turned it round to show his true talent

He just started slow. 6 months in he was fine. Wasn't terrible before, just not outstanding.

He wanted to leave after a year
    He wasn’t happy here
Now he is a mega success but he was not a success in his first year

There is a difference between not a success and a flop. As i said he wasn't great but he wasn't awful.

He was a flop. He didn’t get starts and actually at the time was our 2nd most expensive signing I think…
He then changed and became world class over the next seasons
For context Lukaku is deemed a flop for his return to Chelsea.. he has been (in this season) more successful than Son was in his first

Son certainly wasn't the player he is now. Many many on here didn't rate him and he wasn't always first choice starting games. Even when he started to show world-class ability, there were still a fair number of supporters who were yet to be convinced.

Calling him a flop is crazy talk. Slow start yes, disappointing even yes (although not for me as I felt he was playing well anyway at the time).

Lukaku is a flop because he was bought for 100m and is a high profile player. Son was an under the radar signing, no one but those that had paid attention to him expected much.
