Daily Fail on Spurs Transfer Policy

Does England even have any exciting youth prospects? All I can think of is Chamberlain and Shaw, maybe you can count Wheelchair.

The article doesn't really blame us for going foreign, to be honest. It assumes that Levy decided that there wasn't any real talent left on the market for Spurs to chase, and proceeds to ask why English youth development has reached that critical stage were clubs like us are becoming increasingly reluctant to sign young English players.

A reasonable question, imo, even if I don't exactly think Zamora and Jimmy Walker can be held up as instances of Spurs doing great business.

Dawson
Lennon
Walker
Bale
Defoe
Naughton
Parker
Caulker
Livermore
Thudd
Rose coming back
Townsend coming back
Carroll

All players that have enjoyed first team action last season. Pretty impressive for a top 5 club if you hold it up against the other clubs around us.

We've previously enjoyed healthy transfer activity in the past with British based players. It's more a reflection of the state of our domestic talent that we are moving forward with imported players.

You can be successful or buy mostly english not both Liverpool have shown that and our success since not buying English has supported that. There's simply not enough top english talent to go around. This window it's Zaha who's already gone, Ince and Shaw, who else would be worth getting?

Think we're passed the stage of buying young domestic players (not that there are any good ones around at the moment) and are developing the best ones around ourselves now (Pritchard, Carroll, Coulthirst). We still have 10+ home growners in our squad.
