Maybe but they would need staff diverted from somewhere else to man them

I think the common consensus is if we’re using the nightingales we’re pretty screwed. They are not equipped and are no more than an emergency overspill.

fudge this! We haven't had a single case where I live, since early April. We've been doing really well to contain it, and then yesterday, BAM! Confirmed cases on a building site, 3 schools and a kindergarten. Damn this brick!

Approaching 100,00 from a fair way off.
24000, so it needs to double twice.
Are these the same ones saying it would 50,000 a day by mid October?

Think theyre saying it's probable that 100k infections are happening now. ie if you could test everyone.

24,000 is the number reported via the official testing of those with symptoms, in hospital etc.
96,000 is the (estimated/extrapolated?) number based on the random testing of by Imperial College.

    and this to end with

This study paints a stark picture of where we are and where we could be heading.
If there was no change in the reported nine-day doubling time, there would be more than a million infections a day by the end of November.
That is a considerable "if", but it demonstrates the threat posed by the virus if it is allowed to grow exponentially.

Everything you read and listen is so different depending of that person's/organisations agenda
If I'm honest I don't believe any of them anymore
The whole thing is a fudging shambles

This is quite simply the results of the REACT study.

Send out a 100,000 pcr tests to random people. Collate the results.

The amount of positive tests per 100k multiply that up to our population size probably gives a fair reflection of how many are catching it.

Can't see anything controversial about that.?

It’s being widely reported this morning that the current daily infection rate is 100,000 per day. We also seem to be hitting 300 deaths a day - the scientists suggested 200 a day by mid-November. So, if anything, it would appear the forecasts in September were an underestimate.

I said on here four or five weeks ago that another national lockdown was inevitable, once we headed towards the NHS buckling. The fact that I could see it coming means it wouldn’t have taken a genius to work it out.

    Unfortunately...

this govt, i mean, really wtf are they doing?

It's quite clear localised lockdowns are not working, it's quite clear Tier 2 isn't working, it's quite clear any of their COVID 'strategy' is working.

Scotland, Wales, NI all decided to utilise half term to lockdown. Other countries are back to lockdown with lower case loads than us. What exactly is the plan here?

Again, personal opinion here, it seems inevitable another national lockdown is looming. Will be incredible if we do this again in November when we could have easily done it over half term but just didn't bother.

The other option is we don't do a national lockdown, but clearly the current method isn't working either, so what's Plan C?

This report is widely reported, haven't seen any others backing it up.

Yes Boris is an idiot, yes his handling of this has been shambolic beyond belief, didn't even think this was up for debate tbh.

I don't know about anywhere else but it ain't working in Scotland.
We were told weeks ago we were moving to a tier system, it starts on Monday and we still don't know what the tiers are or which area will be in which tier.
LAs are up in arms because they have case ratios of less than 20 per 100k going into tier three, yet areas with cases in the hundreds oer 100k are also tier three.

All the measures they have tried have failed.
As it seems to be the same all over the world I do think a conversation is needed, because this ain't going away anytime soon.

When Essex went into Tier 2, the stats the Council published were massively lower than the one's peddled out as proof the area needed to go into this 28 days gonad*s we're in now
As I said above it's made up to suit whoever agenda is needed

Are you suggesting we should have multiple agencies sending out 100k tests so they can cross reference each other?

No, I suggesting balanced and fair reporting.
I"m suggesting a clear and simple message backed up with digestible facts.
I"m suggesting that these facts are presented in a consistent manner along.
I"m suggesting that these facts aren't used in isolation, that they are compared to relevant data.

The reporting of this whole situation has been a disgrace, by the government, by scientific bodies, by social media "scientists" and the press.
