Was the joke that it should have said "at the knees?"

If so, it was a bit.

No joke was intended on my part. I was referring to the inflammatory description of the group as 'white police officers'. I personally haven't heard the media describe this incident in this way since it became clear in the days afterward that it wasn't actually accurate.

Why do you find it "inflammatory"? What's your specific reason?

I don't find people getting murdered funny particularly when it is because of systematic racism

There is literally nothing that isn't open to humour.

And murder's a long way from proven.

The simple fact that it's incorrect, and therefore creates a false impression of an incident at the centre of pretty much the most sensitive issue in the world.

Referring to the group as 'white police officers'. I'm pretty sure that's just plain incorrect, not only 'to me'.

Would you have been happier if there had been a breakdown of the respective officers?

I'd be more than happy with any description they wish to use, provided they keep it factual.

I woke up to news that Wiley who is some U.K. garage celeb has been taken to task about his anti Semitic rants on twitter and interesting he has been taken to task by the black Jewish community who are claiming that he is creating a wedge even further towards the BLM cause

So I am guessing you'd have been OK with "...at the hands (sic) of white, Latino and Asian police officers?" I am genuinely trying to establish which parts of the phrase make you unhappy. Is it the "white" bit?
Welcome to a world where black people always get their skin colour called out and are often misnamed (i.e. African American when that is not nearly always accurate).

If this really did offend you, then I think you're looking for it. My opinion.

Referring to a group of police officers, not all of whom are white as "white police officers", is clearly incorrect. It's also unhelpful to say the least when tensions are running as high as they have been.

I never claimed to be offended by this, those are your words. I just like my 'facts', particularly when reported by an organisation such as the BBC to be, you know, factual. I think we're both probably quite confused by this conversation, because I really can't understand your issue with that.

As I mentioned in the TV thread I'm ploughing thru OJ Simpson Made in America at the mo.

So many parallels with whats happening at the moment and all you can hope is that in 20 years time we are not saying the same thing ie nothings really changed:(

Is that any good? I saw it advertised but ignored it as it had OJ Simpson in the title and I find the guy odd

The main focus is OJ but it covers plenty of other ground as well ie race, la riots, LAPD, politics . Think it's an ESPN thing, and they're usually decent. On BBC iPlayer
